My NEW addiction!

I'm in love with loom knitting. I've always loved the look of crocheted and knitted stuff, but I'm left handed. I learned how to do both, but I've always been super slow. I went to Walmart in January and was cruising the craft aisles when I discovered a pack of four circluar coat rack looking things called Knifty Knitters. Next to it was a little instruction pamphlet. What the heck, I thought so I picked it up with a couple of skeins of yarn. I quickly found out that I am super fast with this and it's super easy. (A video of how it works is on their website (www.provocraft.com) Look for Knifty Knitter.) Now nearly 3 months later, I'm running a church mission that makes knitted hats for the babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and adult hats for soldiers deployed in Iraq and Afghanistan. We've got about 14 solid members with new ones coming in and out every week. We've delivered 82 Baby Hats, 4 sets of booties, and shipped 14 adult hats overseas. This has been a wonderful hobby for me. I'm also about to start making two Harry Potter scarves and hat sets for my two nephews. I promise you I'm still working out.....lol. I just do this when I'm wanting to unwind in the evenings. Its very relaxing, and super addictive.......lol. God Bless and Happy Easter! Carol G.

I LOVE my Knifty Knitters! They are really fun and fast, and if you need instant crafty gratification, they fit the bill! I still love my old, slow by hand knitting and crocheting too though. I really want an electric knitting machine, maybe when I'm done with school I'll treat myself to one. I was actually just realizing today as I finished embroidering (redwork) the hem of my daughter's Easter dress that I get the same drug like feeling of satisfaction out of making something now that I used to get from food as a pre-op. It's even better than food, the results last forever it's actually good for my emotional health. I drool over my quilting magazines and Joann's flyers now instead of cookbooks....so great! Congrats on the new hobby! Hannah

Thanks. I am so there with you! If you are interested in a bunch of free patterns for the Knifty Knitter, join the KK discussion board on Yahoo. I warn you that they have a lot of posts, so I just get a daily digest. But it's great for project ideas. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/kniftyknitterlooms/ Also I have a project blog that I just started for free on blogspot. I'm about to start posting pictures of my current projects. http://carolinaugustaga.blogspot.com/ Knit on! Best Wishes! Carol
