I simply cannot tolerate drinking a protein shake. I have tried mixing it with all types of things and I gag every time I drink it. Do any of you mix the protein powder into your foods? If so, what? I just got my 2nd fill and can't eat enough protein and need the powder to supplement for a few days. Thanks to all of you! Kim 217/189/135 Banded 12/29/05

kim, I can not drink the powdered protein drinks and I have found something WONDERFUL but a bit pricey . You can get it at a GNC store. It is Isopure Zero Carb ready made liquid protein. $3.50 a bottle of 40 gms of protein,I drink 1/2 in the mid after noon and the other 1/2 in the evening. It is just like drinking a glass of slightly tart KoolAid....I LOVE IT!!! It is my savior...try it...kathy

I put vanilla protein powder into my banana bread oatmeal.. 28g of protein.. the vanilla whey from GNC is one of the better ones out there.. I also make frozen fruit smoothies with frozen strawberries and bananas and low carb milk (30g of protein).. the whole frozen fruit thing really masks the protein powder taste Hope this helped

I use "any whey" unflavored protein mix. I mix it with Yogurt..1/2 scoop Carb Countdown chocolate milk...a full scoop SF hot cocoa mix...full scoop, mix it in cold water, hea****er slowly and stir in hot cocao mix after water is heated. SF international coffee mixes (decaf)...full scoop and heat just like with hot cocoa SF pudding....at least a full scoop, mix it with 1% milk then mix in the instant pudding mix I can not taste it at all. I can not drink the flavored protein drinks, they make me gag. Good luck Madeline

I blend up vanilla flavored protien with a few frozen strawberries, some milk, and a little crystal light powder...it's like a smoothie, very yummy. It's also okay mixed with yogurt or pudding

One of my co-workers gave me this recipe for a protein shake (she's also 3 yrs post wls) and by far it's the only one I can tolerate that doesn't taste like vomit! Total, this has 31gm of protein. I have one every morning and at night before bed. Yummy! 1 scoop Designer Whey Natural Protein powder 3 packets Sweet n Low 1 cup Skim Milk 4 ice cubes 1 packet Carnation Instant Sugar Free Chocolate powder Mix in a blender and enjoy! Chrissy

I have a collection of all different brands of nasty protein powder. I just kept trying and buying...the only one I can choke down is Isopure Zero Carb. It isn't great, but it goes down. I tried the grape liquid $3.50 per bottle one and couldn't handle that even mixing it with rasberry crystal light. That should tell you the most important thing. We are all so different, that what works for one does not necessarily mean it will work for you. I tried ANY whey because it was supposed to be unflavored...still nasty. What has worked for me is mixing the isopure chocolate into some Lite Cool Whip. It changes the texture and takes work to mix it in, but the taste is masked. I have also put it into a banana bread recipe and that worked. Bottom line is we just have to get it in whatever way we can. Luck.

Your are right, we all are so different. I was using the Unjury (choc) 2 scoops mixed with 1 cup milk for 48 grams protein and 260 cal. But I can not stand that anymore. I have tried the Isopure and it is okay. But recently I found Liquid Protein on bariatriceating.com. It is only 2.9 fl oz and 25 gram protein and 100 cal, no carb/fat. I can choke down 2.9 oz of anything. It is alittle pricey Jen

My surgery was on 12/16/05. I have had trouble with protein powders as well. I have purchased a few protein powders, but couldn't tolerate them. However, I use Zero Carb Isopure Creamy Vanilla. GNC has it. I use a blender, and use 8-10 oz. skim milk, one scoop of protein powder, and about 1 tsp. of cocoa powder, and about 1 tsp. of sugar free strawberry preserves (I don't know how I came up with that). I blend it up and it's like a frothy chocolate milk. It gives you about 32 grams of protein and I drink one on the way to work and one before bed. I can't seem to get in enough protein from eating regular food. I just found out last week that I have an ulcer (I knew it before the scope) and I have trouble with eating -- I seem to do better drinking for now. I don't know if this will help, but maybe you can try it. Good luck. The protein drink thing is tough for some of us.
