Messed up yesterday

Last night before bed I always think about what all I ate that day. I said I had about 12 potato chips all during the day. I don't even care that much about chips. So why had I eaten so many? Not only eaten too many, I had been snacking or grazing on them! WHY? I haven't done this before. Well this morning I saw why. My first trip into the kitchen and there was the canister of chips. My grandson had put them on a chair and two steps in to the kitchen instead of reaching for water I reached for the chips. I reached for the chips EVERY TIME I went into the kitchen! I moved the chips got my protein drink. Oh it is so easy to get caught up. I just hope now I pay more attention to brainless grazing!

Yes Petty, it is so easy to fall back into old habits. It's great that you recognized what you were doing. You can't change something if you don't know you are doing it. I have the have-to-finish-everything-on-my-plate hangup. I find myself feeling full and knowing that I will throw-up if i eat any more and STILL I want to get that last peice eaten. I can't stand to throw away food. Must be leftover from all those starving kids stories from my childhood. (I was never sure how it helped them when I cleaned my plate! LOL!) Now that i realize it, I deliberately try to leave at least one bite on the plate. You can't believe how difficult that is for me. Some days, I just quickly put my plate down for the dogs...it seems ok if they eat it..as long as it doesn't get wasted. Old habits die hard and change comes slowly. PS this surgery is so great because on a bad day you only ate 12 chips. Before on a bad day it could have been the bag! LOL! Sunny

It would have been the whole bag and looking for dip to go with it! My dog has three legs. (Car hit him) He's 13 and I was giving him every thing I wasn't eating. I saw how fast and fat he was getting! I had to stop that too. You know it went into a power play. He didn't want to eat his food. I am eating out of saurers and really small bowls now. That helps I won't over load them

I got tired of eating from 4 oz tupperware containers, so I went to the area outlet mall and bought a set of 4 demitasse cups and saucers. Now I have my own individual "bowl" and "plate", they are cute, and I can spread my selection on the plate and it looks "full". It may sound silly, but I have found it has made an improvement on my attitude and how I feel when others are filling THEIR plates etc.

Don't feel too bad about 12 chips..I can remember eating the WHOLE bag not so long ago! You really don't have to deprive yourself of anything..moderation is the key..well, sugar is the one thing I've learned to psyc myself into thinking it doesn't exist anymore. Anyway..I had a many days of regrets..for example, I've been working so much lately that twice in the past few weeks, I had ordered two large pizza's from Pizza hut, thin and cripy super supreme's last week for the three of us (on sale, buy one get another for 5.00)..humm, well, I would eat one peice then kept going back throughout the day and the next and was only satified when it was all gone..I did give some to the dogs..i know what you mean about the dogs..Mine are getting fat too! I did manage to lose 4lbs this week..so I figure, once in a while, Living it up doesn't hurt too much..jus****ch out for DAILY indulgence. After eating all that pizza, I wasn't hungry for a few days. LOL and was thursty as all get-out!! Surgery Dec 30, 2005 down 65lbs! Weigh 183! 20 lbs to goal!

Well, I gotta admit it here...-I sometimes have potato chips on purpose, and I like them. I eat the Lays light-no fat ones and I enjoy them. (A 17 chip serving has 75 calories), they taste much better than the baked ones. Anyway, if you're like me....you would have eaten the whole bag just a few months ago. Don't be so hard on yourself.

You know what's so awsome about this? You've already started changing your behavior! I don't know about you but before, I never bothered to think about what I ate at the end of each day. And now you are! Not only that, you recognized a problem, figured out why yt it was happening and took away the trigger. AND now you'll probably even be more aware of grazing tendencies. Yeah, you might have had a few chips you didn't intend to but it seems to me instead of messing up really badly, you are already changing old habits. WAY TO GO!
