HELP!!!!!! I'm losing my hair
Is everyone that had RNY surgery losing their hair or is it just me. What do I do?? I will accept any help I can get. I am getting my protein in every day and I am losing the weight I need to but the hair loss is driving me crazy. Thank you in advance for you input on this matter. I had my surgery Dec. 5,2005. I also take Biotan every day because I was told this was supposed to help with hair loss.
Thank you,
Sandy
I have been using B&B maxium strength Super Gro. My hair comes out every time I have surgery. I have been using this for years. I don't know if it'll work this time or not. I did loose hair after this surgery but I don't know if it was the WLS or just my regular fall out.
I did just go get a GOOD hair cut not a trim a hair cut. That always helps it grow back in faster and thicker getting rid of all the bad ends. I just don't look at the floor and tell her to cut. So it is cool for the summer and maybe it will be thick again by fall
My surgery was on 12/16 and I've been losing hair for at least two months now. I don't lose a whole lot, but my hair is getting a good bit thinner. I was one who never lost hair before -- there was never hair in the shower or sink, etc., so I'm really noticing it. But, I hear there's really nothing we can do that works. If I'm wrong about that, please let me know. I just try to get in the protein, etc. I still get most of my protein in from shakes - can't get enough from eating yet, or so it seems.
Hi Sandy,
I haven't been losing hair, so I guess I am the exception. But my hair is very fine to begin with...if I lost any, I would be bald really quickly!
I do have a theory about it though. I have never used protein drinks or bars. I get all of my protein from real food: meats, cheese, milk, yogurt some beans. I never could stand the taste of the protein drinks and my program people said as long as I could eat the food, it was fine. I have heard that meat and dairy products are complete proteins while soy and protein powders are incomplete. So, I believe that maybe that is why I didn't lose my hair. Anyway, we will see. Maybe I am just full of baloney and I will be losing hair soon!!

I am loosing my hair too. My surgery was December 6, 2005. I am not good about keeping track of my protein but something is causing the hair to go. I have handfuls after I shower and wash the hair. Thank the good Lord he gave me plenty to start with. I take Biotin everyday. My nails are doing great so I think it is just from the surgery. I never thought I would be able to blow dry my hair this fast. It is getting pretty thin.
Hope this loss stops soon and the weight loss continues. 85# and counting.
