Protein question
I went for my three month and found that I am way below the required amount of protein. So, my question is if anyone uses the unjury unflavored protein powder what type of things do you mix it with. I know it is not supposed to have a flavor, but to me its nasty. My weight loss has stopped, and I am tired and week all the time. These things I have found are do to not getting in enough protein. Any suggestions would be great.

I don't have flavorless protein but the GNC pro-performance vanilla whey is fairly good.. compared to others it's one of the better ones. And they gaurantee their products so if you don't like it you can return it within 20 days or something like that. I either make frozen fruit smoothies with milk (28g) or add it to Weight Control Banana Bread Oatmeal for breakfast (27g).. it's a good way to boost the protien content in the AM and keeps me going throughout the day. I've also just discovered Atkins Advantage protein bars witch are lower in carbs and sugars for snacks.. I'm picky about these things and these are about the best that I have ever tried. Other than that I try to get the other 30-40 g of protein from real food.
hope this helped

I use Unjury. I mix the unflavored in cold water, milk, crystal light, SF juice, SF pudding and SF jello. The first couple of times it was very odd but I have gotten used to it. I shake it in a shaker cup or use a blender or mixer. I add more liquid than what is called for because I prefer it thinner.
I also found the Power Crunch Bars to be a HUGE help in getting in the protein. I buy them online from bodybuilding.com.
I can eat chicken, fish, cheese and beans but using Unjury and Power Crunch Bars helps me get even more protein. I am getting close to 80 grams per day now.
Best wishes to you.

Hi Melissa, I just got back from my 3 month doctor visit and got a talking to about protein as well... My doctor doesn't allow protein powder after the three month mark though so it's going to be tough. He did say I could add a 4th meal/snack if I need to - that should work because I'm getting about 55g and he just wants it about 60.
What's been (almost) working for me is eating chicken or shrimp for just about every meal... not sure but I think I'm sprouting wings and gills!
I have a question about eating chicken, beans, etc. About how much are you eating at one meal? I'm still going with the 2-3 ounce protein at a meal. Does that sound right? It is so hard to get in all the protein you need eating like that -- that's why I still drink my protein drinks. My surgery was 12/16/05.
Hello Melissa,
I have tried the unflavored unjury, and it makes me gag!!!! UGH!! I am extremely sensitive to all those protein shakes, even in the beginning it was sooooo hard to find one that I could tollerate. I am still looking for one that has no flavor. I am not sure what it is about the drinks, but I try and try to MAKE myself drink them and it just feels aweful in my tummy. I am pretty much getting all my protein from food sources, and once a day I have one of those south beach diet breakfast bars.....10 grams. All of the other supplement bars taste horrid to me. I usually get most of my protein from seafood, I have been living on Scallops, shrimp, and fi**** is truly the easiest things for me to get down.
Good Luck,
Jane

I absolutely HATE Unjury...all flavors of it! Bleh!!
The only types of protein powder I have been able to tolerate are Matrix chocolate, made like hot chocolate with some instant coffee crystals...and IDS bannanna flavor mixed into yogurt...everything else..... I do drink liquid egg whites on occasion (next to the egg beaters)...they are pasteurized and tastless in a smoothie.

I'm glad my Dr. allows protein shakes-forever!! I love mine. I use Body Fortress from Walmart-mixed with some crystal light, ice, and frozen berries-tastes like a milkshake. My hubby even has one for breakfast every morning-and he hasn't had surgery-just likes the taste. He's down 40 pounds. Other protein sources I like are fish, string cheese, sb bars, and a recipe I found here-for protein balls. I eat one or two on days I don't think I've gotten it all in-and they taste like treats.
1 cup oats (uncooked)
3/4 cup peanut butter
1 cup (3 scoops protein powder)
1/2 cup sugar free honey
Mix and form into balls-about the size of a small walnut-keep in tupperware container in the fridge.
As you may have read my Wednesday Doctor visit said I was eating too much liquid and soft food. But, always a but. I was getting way pass the protien I needed. So afraid of being bald.
I am using from GNC Designer Whey Protien Natural (unflavored). I make a protien shake first thing in the morning around 6:30. It has 18 grams per level scope. I put a heaping scope so I figure thats around 21 grams plus 8 grams from the milk. So I start the day ahead of the game. 31 left to go I was getting that all over the place.
I don't know whats going to happen now since I have to eat more meat. I did that Wed, Thur and this morning I had dropped two pounds. I am not sure I got enough protein because I ate WAY less than what I was eating on soft foods. I guess the doctor does know best. My doctor wants me off of the shakes also. I don't think I can do that. 6:30 in the morning I am not cooking bacon and eggs or any thing else.
Morning shake
heaping scope of Designer Whey
cup of milk
1 teaspoon instant coffee decaf
1 1/2 teaspoon cocoa powder (plain powder used for baking)
3 ice cubes
