Protein for life??!
Hello everyone. I am fairly new here and have a couple of questions. hopefully somebody can offer their insight. First, As far as protein is concernced, is this a lifetime thing? I mean, will i have to focus on a high protein diet forever or until fully recouperated. Also, when in comes down to portions, how do you know if you're eating too little or not enough if you lack that "full" feeling? I am three months out and am eating still 3oz. of food. How will i determine if that is enough and for how long? At 4 months out, is 3oz. still the norm or what? I heard somewhere that a good rule of thumb is to eat your month's worth in ounces. For instance, if you're 4 months out, you eat 4 oz. , 6 months out, 6 oz. and so on. Is this completely stupid?
Zoe,
Yes protein for life is literal we have to have the protein to live but even after hitting goal you will need to manage your protein/carb ration to maintain your weight. I would talk to my nutritionist about what is the right amount of food for you. I am at 3 months and still eat 1 1/2 -2 oz usually at a meal. I can't handle much more than that of most things and if it is real dense am lucky to get that in.

I was gonna say... I am pretty sure the protein is for life... they tell us 60-80 grams a day because they know we are not going to absorb all of that (they are considering the malabsorptive thing) so we need at least that much to get what our body needs.... as for food... eat till you are full... your body will let you know.. I feel like I may be able to eat too much... but I am loosing well... so I dont worry about it... sometimes I cant eat a lot... especially if it is dense protein.. that sits pretty heavy sometimes... make sure you get in your vitamins also.. and lots of water
