I am not doing well with vitamins but I am making a steady effort to do better so that my clood work is good at my 6 month appt. .. i dont do protein shakes or bars, but i always put protein first in all of my meals. I am good about that. I started at size 20/22 and 5'5 243 lbs. i am now size 14 and 187 lbs. so total 56 lbs now. I cannot complain but I cant help but compare myself to some others and worry that I am not going to reach goal. I feel like I am losing slower than some. Sighhh It has gone fast already, I guess. But I hope the next 3 months fly by and maybe i can reach my surgeons goal of 155 by 6 months out. Does anyone else battle these thoughts and fears? Tell me i am not alone. Meagan 243(day of surgery) / 187(now) / 155 (surgeons goal) / 145 (mine)

Hi Meagan, I had my surgery on the 12th of Dec. So far I have lost 51lbs. I do feel good actually great. I do my vitamins and try to get in 40+grams of protein through shakes and stallons pudding. The remainder from food. I compare myself too and I know that is wrong. I started at 218 and a very tight 18. I am now down to 14's and they are getting baggy. My tops have gone from x-large to medium/large. You are not alone, I feel like I am at a stand still even though I know I am losing inches, the dang scale is not showing any loss. I have failed on so many diets, I just don't want to think to far down the road. I have set myself up for little goals of 10lbs each. This has really helped me get this far. So far my journey has been great but it's the little thoughts in the back of my head and knowing my past that scares me sometimes. You are doing great.... Take care, Jodi 218 day of surgery 168.2 can't seem to get off that number 130's my goal

Hi there, I had my surgery on Dec. 19th and to date have lost 46lbs. I take all my vitamins and try my hardest with my water. I started at 269 and am now at 223. I am happy as a clam with my loss but yes I do tend to compare myself as well with those that have lost 100lbs in the first few months! But my surgeon is happy and reassures me that for my body size etc I'm right on target. It's so hard to just trust and let it go isn't it? Good job on your loss! You're doing great

When I WENT to the support meeting Thursday our Doctor said he wasn't putting a weight lost goal on any one. He felt that stressed you too much. I too feel that sometimes I am not keeping up with the pack. I know I am doing good. It is not the pounds that people say that they have lost that gets me down. It is the sizes!!!!!! I am saying to my self why aren't I in a 18 like every one else???? Then I have to tell myself BOOBS thats why. They have went down a ton but I am still packing a half ton. I think any lost is great. I know it seems I am in a constant stall but I keep feeling the hugh spare tire in my back and can feel how much lighter it is now. No you are not alone. We all are wondering something from day to day.

My surgeon is like yours he will not tell me what he wants me to weigh. When I went for my 8 week check up I asked him just how much I had lost. I wasn't sure if I heard the nurse right. He would not tell me, he said it is a number you just need to worry about your eating and let me worry about your weight. He then told me to throw away the scale, haven't been able to do that yet. At the support meeting they stressed that sometimes you may weigh more due to that time of the month, you may not have lost but are losing inches. It all made sense and I swore I was going home and getting rid of my scale. It has not happened I am addicted to the scale. I have not really lost anything in my boobs. The cup size is the same but the size has gone down. I still have to buy shirts to fit the boobs, now I am not really complaining that I have not lost them. Oh well, just wanted to point out my surgeon and yours have the same idea on a weight loss goal. Take care, Jodi

Funny you mention the boobs..I have lost 48 pounds so far. I started at 227.5, now 179 , a loss of about 48 pounds. I started out as a 20 and am now a baggy 16..buying very tight 14's to wear in a few weeks (I hope! LOL!). I have not changed in my boobs. No bra size change except for using the tighest hooks. I was amazed (dismazed? hehe!) How could this be? Made me wonder if I was strapping the girls into too small a size. I was looking forward to lossing some up top..always felt top heavy. I dream about the little bras with lace and flowers, not the steel reinforced over the shoulder boulder holders. Oh well! PS I read your profile..I couldn't believe your pictures. You are looking sooo fine! Really! You look wonderful!! Whatever you are doing is working beautifully. Sunny

I think we all compare ourselves to others. I know I do... I am down 46 lb., not including the 11 I lost before surgery. I see people who have lost 60, 70, 80 lb. and 26 inches by now, and I get discouraged... I don't even seem to be losing that many inches; at least it seems that way to me. I am able to wear a lot of smaller clothes I have, but I can still wear many of my "big" clothes, too! People who started out at a size 30 can wear 18-20s??? I can't get into an 18-20!!!! *sigh* And some of these people claim they don't exercise at all!!! EEEK!!! I go 3-4 days a week for 1.25 hours of cardio and weight training each time! I am just going to chalk all this up to each of us being different. I see my surgeon on Friday, and, hopefully, he will be satisfied with my loss. I want to believe that none of us are "typical," and that we all will lose at our own pace. Do you think that is possibly true? Pat

Hi Meagan, I had my surgery Dec 22 and am down -44lbs. I weighed 243 day of surgery and went home at 248. I am 5'2". I think that I am losing slowly but I am happy to be losing. I'm a little worried that this isn't going to work. I'm very impatient. I have to remember that they usually tell you to give it a year, but I would like to be at goal by this summer. Keep up the good work you are doing fine. Miriam 248/204/140

Meagan, Try the Finstone's Complete - they are chewable. 2 in the morning and 2 in the evening gives you great coverage. They aren't bad either! Isopure from GNC is a protein drink that has 40 grams per 20 ounces. It comes in different flavors like tastes like Koolaid. I like the Icy Orange and the Grape myself. I think the weight loss depends a lot on your beginning size, your bone structure, and your activity level. I find I do not loose as fast if I am excersizing because I am building muscle. My fear is always loosing muscle instead of fat! Diona 225.5(start of 2 day fast)/174 now/125-130 my goal/ 145 surgeon's goal. I'm 5' 6" tall and have a small long bone structure.
