Being a number cruncher for a living, I work on what percent of my weight loss have I accomplished in three months.. When I look at it that way, my 40-some pounds seem more inspiring. All of these suggestions are great. Use EVERY encouragment you can. Make golas other than the scale. I am taking pictures and measuring my chest, waist and hips. (I wish I had measured my legs and arms prior to surgery but I didn't). Each day is another day to make the best choices, consume protein and water and move a bit more than the day before. We are all winners. Vicky

Jennifer, Man this must be the December Babies time to not lose weight.. I was in a stall for 2 weeks then I lost 3 lbs and guess what Im stalled yet again. Its so hard not to let your mind sneak over to the what ifs and feeling like a failure again. I even thought briefly about maybe trying to not eat and only drink for a few days.. then I remembered that if I do that the only thing it will do is make it harder to lose because my body will think its starving again. I am holding onto the fact that so many people have had this surgery and lost their weight so I will too I have to. So I guess its just time for us to stall. At least we are all doing it together and that makes it a bit easier.. Well for me anyway. (((HUGS))) Dori

Hi Jennifer, If you are taking in 1,100 cals, but getting only 60 gms of protein, it seems like there is too much "filler" in there in the form of carbs/fats. That can slow down the weight loss... Do you use supplements? Or do you take all your protein from food? Do you have a nutritionist? My max calorie range is 700-800 for this post op stage. Just thought I would offer my little piece of loss advice, so now that I've done that... Good job on the 42 lbs!!!! It is so hard not to compare... I try and put horseblinders on nowadays.

Yes, there is probably too much filler. Not necessarily 'bad' stuff- fruit and such but still it warrants looking at you are right! My doctor refused to give me a calorie range so it helps to see what others are taking in. I just wanted to say a big THANKS- to all my Dec. sibs. You guys rock!

My nut. suggested max of 800 calories also & 60-90 grams of protein. I had a stall last for a few weeks, I was stuck at 38lbs, then I refused to step on the scale, I was loosing inches bit - by -bit and one day I took my daughter to the doc and jumped on his scale and it was down 10lbs, I wasnt too excited because 'different scale' thing. But when i got home i was down 10!!!! It will happen to you too!

I know exactly how you feel. My highest weight was 416; day of surgery 393. I had my 3 month visit yesterday. I am down 44 since surgery. Very disappointing compared to the average WLS patient. It is 44 pounds that I wouldn't have lost with WLS, but when I hear the average at 3 months is 65 pounds, it is very depressing. I am sick of hearing about people dropping big numbers too. I try to focus on the positives, but some days it is very discouraging. It's like I am constantly fighting against the current all the time to get upstream. Nice to know I am not the only slow loser out there who feels this way. Huggs, Ruth

Slow losers, I share your pain. I may have uncovered my cause this week. At our recent support group meeting one of the ladies who has lost over 90lbs in 4 months shared that she is only eating 600 calories and getting all of her protein from her food. My Muscle Milk with 8oz of skim milk has 410 calories with 42g of protein. Imagine, what 2x per day was doing to my weightloss? I'm now going to look into other protein shakes and/or sources. I have since downloaded a program to my Palm from CalorieKing.com (they have a web-based program). I have dropped 6lbs this week by making sure I'm between 1000 and 1200 calories with at least 80 grams of protein I find myself constantly checking everything now for hidden calories and carbs. I am also kicking up my exercise to 6 days a week. This program suggests weighing yourself every day. Which can cause insanity. When I broke my plateau I was overjoyed...now that the water weight is coming on I'm dying. Keep encouraged and stay focused. Everyone's weightloss journey is different. I'd rather lose slow and retain skin elasticity than drop it quickly and look like a bald bag of skin. Chauncine ~60lbs (10lbs pre-op)
