How do you feel? Are you still battling with nausea? If so how often? Does anything help you? Any other problems you are experiencing on a regular basis? What does your diet consist of at this point? Do you smoke? Does it aggravate the nausea? I'm still nauseated constantly. I called the Dr. and he ordered a UGI, which I had on Friday. The radiologist said I have reflux and I'm taking Prilosec OTC 3x/day but it's really not helping too much. I suppose the surgeon will call me if it shows anything else. I still have to stick with a soft diet pretty much. I do smoke and it does seem to make it worse. I know, I know, but don't seem to be ablw to quit right now. Anyway I thought I'd poll you December babies to seem if this is at least semi-normal because I'm starting to get a little worried.

How do you feel? I feel fine. I wish the weight was coming off sooner-but really, so far so good. Are you still battling with nausea? I have never had nausea once since surgery. I have never dumped and I have never had a complication. Any other problems you are experiencing on a regular basis? The only real problem I've been having is a little constipation (colace takes care of that) and I get the "rocks in my tummy" feeling from certian foods-ie chicken and bread. I also have a tendancy to eat too fast-one sure way to get the pain in the belly. I'm still learning to eat slow and chew chew chew. What does your diet consist of at this point? I love my protein shakes. I have one every morning for breakfast. I like to eat softer purreed foods like soup, beans, pudding and soft fish ie talipai. I cannot stand eggs, chicken, bread or beef jerky (they hurt) but I really like cheese, salad, and beans. I've been eating a few sb protein bars-they're good, and I tried the slimfast hi protein bar YUM.. Also like soy chips and protein balls. I've never really tested my "dumping" reflex and haven't had any high sugar or fat foods. I've stuck with my decaf coffee and stay away from my old favorite (diet pepsi) Do you smoke? I quit in 1981 Blessings to all December babies. Jan 282/224/145

I do not smoke. I think you may find Nexium works better. Before my surgery it was the only medication that worked for me. Both Prilosec prescription and Prevacid did not work for me. Ususal dose is 30 mg once a day. Mine was so bad I took 40 mg twice a day. I have not taken it since about 2 wks post op now. I do not have nausea unless sometimes if I eat too fast, it is easier to do this with softer foods like refried foods, I find. I think it is good to have gotten the UGI, this is a good precaution. You may have some bloating in the old part of the stomach, I did for a couple weeks right after surgery, and even threw up. Refried beans with cheese and salsa, canned chicken with pickle and light miracle whip, grilled chicken, carrots, peas, brocoli, occassionally V8, 3 or 4 reduced fat wheat thins with 1 oz fat free Motzerella, sugar free popsicles, Sometimes chicken noodle soup, sugar free chocolate pudding occassionally and Syntraxx Carribbean Breeze Coconut Protein Nectar. This is basically what I choose from to eat and it works for me.

How do you feel? I feel fine except I'm a bit tired most of the time.. Are you still battling with nausea? No, never had nausea. If so how often? Does anything help you? Any other problems you are experiencing on a regular basis? Not a problem one, Thank God. What does your diet consist of at this point? I stay away from a lot of fat, carbs and sugar..other than that, I eat everything. I just got back from eating chinese..had some hot and sour seafood soup..delicious!!! also had some bbq ribs chinese style..usually for breakfast, I have a carnation instant breakfast, later I might have a boiled egg, cottage cheese, or a couple of chicken tenders or such, and then for dinner I have what ever the family is having except for the bread, rice or fries.. Do you smoke? Yes, unfortunately..more now than ever since I can't eat very much at a time..one crutch for another.. Does it aggravate the nausea? No problems. 248\194 since December 30th '05.

How do you feel? I feel very good. Some days, though, I am tired still. Are you still battling with nausea? If so how often? Does anything help you? I have not had any nausea at all. Any other problems you are experiencing on a regular basis? I haven't had any problems. What does your diet consist of at this point? I still have a protein shake in the morning. Usually an egg and Dannon yogurt with flax seed for lunch, then fish or meat with applesauce or a vegetable for dinner. I snack on cheese sticks and SF popsicles and Jell-O. If I go out, I get whatever looks good to me, then bring home leftovers. I have not tried anything made with sugar, and I only had one piece of bread, which was blah, so I haven't tried it again. Do you smoke? Does it aggravate the nausea? I quit smoking in 1996. It was the best thing I ever did for myself! Smoking aggravates everything!! Take care, Pat

Dear Susan, I am replying to your post even though I have never had nausea. The only problems I have had are vomiting periodically. I am trying to add new foods and I guess I vomit when something doesn't agree with me. I had pasta but that didn't work. I had Chinese food with a few bites of rice and that didn't work either. I am thinking it is rice and pasta because since then I haven't had those two items and I have been fine. I have never smoked. My diet: I am trying to eat regular stuff, but I do have a routine of sorts. I eat instant apples and cinnamon flavored oatmeal made with lactaid lowfat (1%) milk instead of water to increase the protein. This oatmeal has regular sugar, but I do not dump. I also have a non-fat decaf latte most days. Mid-morning: a diet yogurt or a banana. Lunch, usually a cup of soup, 5 crackers (Ritz, lowfat) with 1-2 oz cheese or lowfat tuna salad; today I had a half of turkey and cheese sandwith just for a change. It was fine. Snack: a piece of fruit around 3 PM. Dinner: varies--usually a meat (not chicken) or fish (must be moist) or a bit of a casserole that my family is eating, and salad and/or potato. Sometimes I have a Healthy Choice Fudge Bar (90 cals) for a treat. Good luck with your situation. I hope they figure out how to stop your nausea. Diana

I am feeling better finally. Had some complications, but seem to be on the right track now. Never really had nausea. I did have vomiting without nausea, but that was most likely the stricture. Did better once that was fixed. The most regular problem is constipation. I take a stool softener every day plus a low carb "regulator" I got at vitamin world. Never smoked. I am still a little gun shy about food as I have been on mostly liquids since my surgery. After second endoscopy, I was told I could have pureed foods and eventually go to regular food. I have been living on turkey chili, sugar free applesauce, cottage cheese, refried beans with cheese, protein powder mixed into lite cool whip, and of course the protein drinks. Sometimes I can get away with peanut butter and banana or cheese and crackers. I did try one half of a boca burger and that stayed down, but when I tried a bite of a turkey meatball that was a no-no. Can't handle chicken or eggs yet. Don't eat fish or beef at all. Everyone is different, but I have to say I can't wait until I get the nerve to try salad. So many people have had it much earlier than this without problems. Also have been on prilosec 2x daily since just after surgery.

I am feeling pretty good. I still get tired easily, but that's to be expected. I have had some nausea, but mostly I only get that way when I eat something really greasy. Zofran and ginger tea make the pukiness go away quickly. No problems other than some dry skin and minor hair loss. I eat pretty much anything I want except stuff with sugar. I try to avoid simple carbs and get all my protein in every day. I can have some bread, but I have to be really careful with it, it does get stuck...oww! I quit smoking when I got pregnant with my daughter four years ago. I have never felt better! Smoking made me feel like crud all the time. Have you tried zyban or welbutrin to help you quit?

I feel great. No nausea unless I don't get enough carbs. No other problems either. And I don't smoke, never have. Hope you get this taken care of. -Maria

Susan, I was doing fine, had a stricture, got it dilated, was doing fine again, now I'm back to keeping nothing down. Looks like I have to have another dilation. I've never thrown up so much. I was able to eat quite a few things including steaks, tacos, etc. but today I can keep 0 down. I don't smoke - it doesn't even sound good! Will let you know! Diona
