I really don't know where to count. When I finally refused to get on the scales any more at 315 or the date of my sugery at 279. That was 36 lbs. I had really lost more than that and started to put it back on. I went up to 290 and said I can't do this alone. I went from 290 to 279 before sugery. I lost those 11lbs simply by stop eating cookies and snickers and cokes. 279 Dec 12, 2005 232 March 11, 2006 I don't know if I should count from 315 or 279????????? Any one else with this problem Where are you counting from

I gained a couple of pounds before surgery, so I don't have your problem. If you lost it, I say count it!!! Regardless of before or after surgery.

I am counting my weight loss from the date of surgery ---but you should calculate it however makes the most sense to you. Whichever way feels the best. Judith G Inver Grove Hts, MN VG Lap-Band 12/9/2005

I say count it. I use my weight before surgery or when I started my journey at 386lbs. But, I will not offically ask for my century club membership until I have lost 100lbs since surgery. I am sorry if my post yesterday confused anyone. I was just so excited that I am down 100lbs. Melissa

I count from my highest recorded weight, which was at my 1st appt w/ my surgeon, 10/13/05. It was 380 then. I am pretty sure I gained a few pounds before I started his pre-surgery diet at the end of Oct, but I don't know for sure. My next appt was Dec 1, and I had lost 16 lbs, down to 364. Surgery was 12/21, but they never weighed me. I have sort of used the 12/1 weight as my pre-surgery wt, but I don't know if I lost or gained anything between 12/1 and 12/21. Now I'm right at 300 so I consider that I have lost 80 lbs since I started my wls journey. What is the "correct" way? I don't really know. But for me, I'm down 64 lbs since surgery and 80 overall. Congratulations on your teriffic losses!! Sue K.

I count from the day of surgery when I got on the scale and it said 338 lbs. When I went to my PCP 2 weeks prior to surgery it was 324 but I am using the 338 weight since that was my most recent weight.
