I had my surgery 12/19/05. At my 3wk post-op the doctor said that a weight loss of 24lbs wasn't enough now I have lost 46lbs and I am paranoid that I am not loosing enough. I started this journey weighing 333 now I weigh 241. Where was everyone else at this point after surgery?

I had surgery on 12-12-05. My nutritionist and doctor have both been fine with my weight loss so far. I have lost 48 pounds so far, and I am 2 months and 2 weeks out. My nutritionist said that most women loose and average of 1/2 a pound a day. I am still ahead of that, so I am okay with my loss. I personally say you are doing just fine. My nutritionist would say the same. Keep your head up! Just do what you are supposed to be doing. Other than that, you cannot control how much your body looses.

I had my surgery 12/12/05 also. I am 5' 6 1/2" I have also lost 48lbs. My doctors did not put any pressure on me as to how much and when I should I loose. They all think what I have lost is great. I think what you have lost is great also. Remember none of us are the same. My highest weight or at least the last I would get on the scale was 315. I went into surgery at 279. I think we are doing just fine!!!!!

I had my surgery on 12-27-05. I have lost 36 pounds. It seems that i will lose for a week and then not lose for 2 weeks. I got so depressed that I finally took my starting measurements last week. I measured agian this week and have lost 8.25 inches but no weight. I really helps to see something moving downwards. I think you are doing great! Kim

Amanda, I think you are doing great. Mind you, I am not a surgeon or anything but I feel that any weight loss at all is better than where we ALL were to begin with. I had my surgery on December 27th. I am down 61lbs since surgery. My highest weight was in October of last year and I am down I think 91lbs since then. I like most people have been through the whole loosing weight and then nothing for a few days or a week and then finally the scale starts to move down. I also get discouraged, but I am doing the best that I can and I cannot ask any more of myself. I am hopping when I do my weight and measurements at curves on the 13th of March that I will have lost a lot of inches. I feel like I have, but I will wait until then. Best of luck and wishes to you on the rest of your journey. Melissa

Well I think your doing great! I had surgery 11/30/05 and am only down 43 pounds. Haven't lost any in three weeks! But my surgeon is fine with my weight loss even though I'm NOT. He says different people loose different ways. I trust what he says...he is supose to be the best in my state. Good Luck, Sarah

Well, i had my surgery 12/2, and at my 3 week visit, i had lost 9 pounds. i was hysterical. the doctor, nurse and nutritionalist told me i was doing fine. i disagreed. i went in for my 6 week, and had lost 9 more for a total of 18 pounds. 18 freaking pounds. They argued with me that i was doing just fine according to the statistics. i disagreed, cried, and argued. they told me to get over it. see a therapist. When, i left, with my eyes so red from crying i could barely see to drive, they told me that my goal for my 3 month check up was 8 pounds. 8 pounds for a total of 24. i could not believe it. Well, this week is my 3 month check up, we shall see what happens. ( i know i have busted my butt, walking 3 miles a day and eating all that is right, with proper protein, enough water, etc. ) I know I have lost more than 8 since then, but still not enough to my liking and to what everyone else on here does. I am glad that my doctor is a good surgeon as i have had no complications, but he sucks when it comes to after care. I started at 266, can you believe my doctor called me a lightweight, and said that was the reason i wasnt losing much. Thanks for listening. Good luck to all. Sally 266/231/137

Everyone we all are doing good - we cannot (even though it is very hard) compare ourselves to anyone else- my dr called me a light weight as well - I had my surgery on 12/21/05 - I was 290 at surgery i thought that i was doing something wrong too- when i went for my 6 week check up i was 258 - yes I was down 32 but i started to freak out - but then i put it all in prospective the more you stress about losing the more your brain and body tells you to #@$% off - stress brings havoc to your whole entire body - i donot have a scale for that reason because i know that i would be on it constantly to the point of insanity. do your best and know that we are know making better food choices, we are working out ( most of us never ever ever worked out) God bless everyone and keep doing what you are doing - it will get better - Jo 290/258?/180/165 started/ now/dr's goal/my goal

I had surgery the same day as you. Started out at 269lbs and am now 230. Total loss of 39lbs. My dr. is thrilled with my progress and says I'm right on track. At first I was worried that I wasn't losing fast enough but now I know this is just the rate my body needs to lose it. I think you're doing great!
