Power of Protien
Yesterday I had my 2 month check-up, and my protein was high in my labs and I am not even drinking any protein shakes! But this is what I do: I eat oatmeal or cream of wheat for breakfast, made with milk. I eat soup like italian wedding soup or split pea soup for lunch OR I have 4-5 ritz crackers with cheese spread on top (probably about 2 oz of port salut cheese or brie) or tuna salad on top and a banana or applesauce. I have a yoplait low cal yogurt for a snack, and I have either more soup or very finely chopped turkey with gravy (healthy choice frozen dinner) and mashed potatoes and a couple spoonfuls of veggies or fruit. For a night time snack I have either a diet pudding, egg custard I have made, or healthy choice fudge bar (90 cals and has protein). I recently tried beef or turkey jerky too, and sometimes have a spoonful of ricotta as a snack which also has protein. I can't stand the protein drinks and I would rather have real food. I guess I am getting most of my protein from dairy products. Oh, and I use lactaid milk because I was experiencing a bit of gas when I have a lot of regular milk. I have lost 42 lbs since my surgery.
