I am hoping you guys can help me out. I am supposed to be eating close to 60 grams of protein per day. I can hardly eat anything else beside the protein. Any suggestions? You know they beat into our head protein for healing and weight loss as well as hair loss. I am really afraid of losing my hair. I would be grateful for any help or advice. Thanks Jody

I just got over this problem, except I am supposed to eat 70-100g of protein a day... Here are some ideas: I eat cottage cheese most days (14g, 4oz) boneless, skinless chicken (22-28g for 3-4oz) Carb Control Yogurt (5g) Carb Countdown milk (8g per 8oz) Turkey jerky (15g per 1oz) Cheese (varies, usually about 5g per ounce) I also have to supplement at least once a day... I like Nectar best, then Carb Solutions ready to drink cans. (Both have a little over 20g).

I too had this problem. I used Unjury to make up for what I couldn't fit in. I also decided to eat more veggies and fruits even if it made me full as long as I got my protein in with the shakes. Now, I am able to eat a little more. Last night I ate a whole ring of shrimp ****tail. It was awesome. I just ate it slow and pretended I was at a party and it was an appetizer and had one every few minutes or so. It was almost 35 gms of protein and 160 calories! A deal! LOL! Good luck! sunny

M.M. Isn't there a website that give us the protein count on foods? If so could you send it to me?

There is one, but I can't recall the link... I think Tiffany from the January 06 Board has it. But, I use fitday.com and it has most foods in a database, so when you add what you ate for the day, it will tell you how many calories, fat, carbs and protein it had for the amount you ate. It is a wonderful tool. Sometimes the general foods are off, so if it is something I eat often, I put it in myself and it will save it so I can use it other days for a more accurate reading.

I make a frozen fruit smoothie every morning with the GNC pro-performance vanilla whey powder.. I'm addcited!! And. it ends up being 28g of protein when made with skim milk.. which my program encourages. Then the rest of the day I can relax because almost half of my protein is taken care of and I can snack on all those veggies and fruits that I crave and not feel guilty that they have no protein.

Hi Jody- I am also Jody...also in MI and also had Paul Kemmeter...too funny huh? Tell me about yourself, when was your surg, how are you loosing etc. Besides the other suggestions I also like Blue Bunny smoothie, which are 140 cal and 12 or 13 pro. Also there is also the stuff they sell us at the doctors office....you're prob. sick to death of it but if you're at least 6 weeks out you can do the protein bars. They really aren't bad....I got a big sample pack of protein bars from somewhere online and they were all gross. The ones they sell at the doctors office are better and a lot cheaper. I also liked the cappicino pro drink they sell...I doctor it up with a little sugar free/fat free french vanilla international coffee and a little low carb french vanilla creamer...the girls at work are always like...ooo what are you drinking it smells good!! Take care, The "other" Jody

Hi Jody I start the day off with whole oats oatmeal and cook it in the micro with water, cinnamon and splenda, and I add soy protein powder, mix it in and add milk. That is 20 grams of protein, depending on which protein powder you use. You can't metabolize more than 20-25 grams of protein at a time, but my surgeon wants me to have 20 grams, 3 meals a day. I also add it to soup, as long as the soup is not too hot or it will clump up. I like the unflavored protein so I can add it to other foods and it won't change the flavor. You can get it at GNC or Vitamin Shoppe. Their own brand is what I get. It is a lot cheaper than the name brands. Good luck. Lee

You may have seen this already on another post, but my staple is soup made with non fat chicken broth, refried beans, canned or boiled, skinless chicken breast shredded and salsa. I love it. Make it as thin or thick as you like... there is protein from the chicken and beans. Measure and divide protein counts accordingly. I also drink SYNTRAXX NECTAR PROTEIN. The one I like best is Caribbean Breeze, it is a very light consistency and light coconut flavor. Next I like Fuzzy Navel an orange, peach drink. It is a little stronger and a bit thicker. 2 scoops with 8 oz water for 23 gr protein. It is also good when partially frozen like a slushie!! Check ASK E for ewho has it cheapest thiss week.
