Run out of the house by the smell of buttered popcorn
For the most part my husband has been very supportive, and gratefully my kids are grown so there is no family meal to prepare each day. But right now we just got home from water exercise and I am hungry and tired, and he immediately put on buttered popcorn for himself. Now I KNOW that he can eat many things I don't, but we had talked before and things which permeate the house with smells like bacon and popcorn, he was going to have while I go to college. I am gone 24 hrs a week, that seems a reasonable solution to me.
I got mad and frustrated so I am in the bedroom now on the web site. It was a little challenging getting through Valentine's Day without going out to a nice dinner and the usual candy. DOWN 50 LBS AND JUST STARTING TO UNDERSTAND SOME DAYS ARE STRICTLY ONE DAY AT A TIME, WITH GOD'S HELP WHEN IT COMES TO THIS LIFE CHANGE.. ..I know it is an adjustment, but some days seem to be a little more challenging than others.
After this I am going to watch the Olympics in bed.
That is inconsiderate of your (right now) not-so-dear husband. I am sorry he did that. I have eaten a little bacon a couple of times, but I decided I would definitely not cook any until my DH is out of the pureed stage.
I would suggest having maybe 10 or 12 pieces of the popcorn. Just decide in advance how man you are going to eat, stick to it, and chew well. I have had a little popcorn at a movie and had absolutely no problem.
Valentine's day was more tough this year for certain. We went to the large city about an hour away and shopped (for protein drinks...LOL). It seemed all the restaurants were packed. My DH, who had surgery less than two weeks ago, decided he wanted to go to a restaurant and just eat some potatoes or something, but when we went to one place, the wait was an hour and a half. Oh my! We decided to come on home. We got a burrito and split it. He only ate the insides of course.
I hope you are feeling better soon!
I know its hard. I had to drive over 60 miles with teen age boys in the car. They stopped and got HOT JUST OUT OF THE GREASE doughnuts. They ate them the whole time I was driving. I kept saying to my self, "don't even think about it, you will DUMP" I don't know if I will dump on them or not. But I wasn't about to find out on the highway with a bunch of gross teenage boys.
Everyone is well intended, but I do not feel I need to even be eating popcorn, not even a little. And I do not think I should eat anything when I am not hungry and it is not time for nutritional fuel. I have a hard enough time getting in what I need...plus I am trying to break my bad habits which got me 171 lbs overwt to begin with.
Pam, please take this the right way. I know you are dissapointed that your hubby went ahead and ate something that you cannot have. Really though, you weren't hungry anyway-and it isn't worth getting mad over. From now on, for the rest of your life, you will have people eating in front of you things that you will not be able to have. Sometimes you will be hungry-but you have chosen to make better choices now.
As far as going out to eat, I do go-and enjoy myself. I just order something I can have and bring the rest home. My DH and I did go out on Valentine's day. I had a stuffed portabella mushroom-with feta cheese and a few baked beans.-brought the chicken that came with the dinner home-and had shared it with my hubby yesterday for dinner. Blessings to you-and better days ahead. :fairy"
Pam,
I have to say that I understand fully where you are coming from because i struggle with the things that my family eats as well! I get upset and go to my room when there is something around I can't or shouldnt have. I also know that I made a decision about my weight, my entire family was not overweight I am and they should not have to suffer because of my issues!
Again I sympathetic b/c I am tempted daily, today I had one penut M&M b/c a coworker has them on her desk! I try to take it day to day.
Good luck
Christy
