How long do you take to eat a sandwich?

I feel wonderful when I take a 1/2 hour to eat. Sometimes when I don't pay attention, I eat too fast and I sure can tell "it was too fast". Thanks for the encouragement.

An hour is a little silly if you ask me. How many bites are in half a sandwich 5 maybe 6. I eat half a peanut butter sandwich for lunch a few times a week and I can pu**** to 20 minutes if i really try. If you are taking 30 minutes to eat a meal then you are doing fine but who am I. Take care Scott

You are doing fine. My nutritionist didn't give me a specific time that it should take but I have heard from others that they were told that it should take 30 - 60 minutes. I have eaten a 1/2 sandwich and it doesn't take that long. I use regular bread and I am fine with it, I also toast my bread and do well. I haven't timed myself but I know that it doesn't take me an hour to eat a meal. JaNae 338/284/175

It takes me a half an hour too.. I guess I too have la "Super Pouch" capabilities which all sounds very scary now that I read everyone's replies. EEEK! My program has been ultra strict form the start.. i.e. I was only just allowed to incorporate carbs into my diet two weeks ago.. before that it was all protein. My ultra-strict dietician said that, "bread is ok as long as it's ok with the pouch.. and every pouch is different.. so proceed with caution." Like you.. I get the bread that has a lot of protein in it and I have one piece toasted and toppled with protein. To that.. my pouch has replied "ok.. I can do that." In fact, so far my pouch hasn't rejected anything.. which I have to say is nice but scary at the same time. To be a bit more clear on this.. I have in no way, shape, or form tested my pouch out with foods that are not on my dietician's list (she has me deathly afraid to do so). But still.. everything tastes fine and goes down ok for me (obviously after I chew it 100 times).. and now I'm learning quicker than most people. In that.. sometimes I feel like they didn't do the surgery on me because I haven't had all the problems that everyone talks about on this here site. But.. I'm down 38 pounds in 9 weeks and when have I ever been able to do that? Glad you posted this question.. April

I too have been very lucky. I have not had even a stomach ache, nor have I thrown up. I have eaten a bit too fast a couple of times, and felt like I had swallowed a golf ball, however that teaches me a lesson and goes away quickly. I work really hard to take a 1/2 hour to eat, I could do it much more quickly. I look down at my stomach all the time and say "did they really do it?' But then I remember 8 weeks and I am 48 pounds down. THEY DID IT!!!! Thank God. I am going to try to slow down some more, but it sure is not easy!

I never heard from anyone that it should take a hour for a 1/2 sandwich. Im 8 weeks post op and the only thing my doctor asks me is does anything bother me. I havent had any problems yet. I had a problem with Chicken noodle soup once and the next time it was fine. I just think I didnt chew it good enough. But I have a 1/2 peanut butter sandwich all the time to try to get my protein. I just cant gag down the protein shakes anymore.

I don't eat much bread but from time to time I eat 1/2 of an english muffin. I am afraid to eat actual bread it swells in my stomach, and i get sick.
