Hello everyone! This is my first actual post here, although I have been "lurking" around reading the boards for advice since before my surgery. I was just wondering if anyone gets sick of eating. I have to be really strict with myself and eat 3 meals a day or else I won't get in all of my protein, but lately I am just sick of eating fish, eggs, and cottage cheese. Does anyone know of any recepies to make the few foods we can eat more interesting? I've been living off of tuna and those Gorton Grilled Salmon fillets because they're only 100 calories and 18 grams of protein but I don't think I can make it another week.... I'm on my eighth week out of surgery.

I get sick of what I eat too... I had a problem getting in my protein at first, so my nut had me eat just meats this week. Yuck! so I tried a few things. Here are some ideas: Add in things to your cottage cheese: Salsa, Course Black Pepper, BBQ Sauce, Garlic Powder, Ranch Seasonings, Hot pepper flakes (if it is a dry product i usually put like a pinch in, if it is a sauce I put about 1 tsp in) Top your chicken: I use LF cream cheese, LF mozzarella cheese, Salsa, LF honey mustard, LF Blue Cheese, Carb Control Spagetti Sauce I also can eat Turkey Jerky, which for one ounce is only 80 calories and has 15g protein. I chew well and have never had a problem with it. Get thin sliced meats from your deli... I can tolerate these very well. I usually do "roll ups" with either cream cheese or a slice of cheese. I can eat them cold or warmed in the microwave. Quick and easy.

Can you eat finely ground hamburger? If so try making some chili w/beans. Chicken salad w/finely ground chicken and LF ingredients Ricotta cheese There is a recipe for something I call Pizzagna on my profile. It is basically LF ricotta made kind of like a pizza casserole. Check out the recipe forum for a recipe I posted called poor man's steak. I have been eating Weight control oatmeal with extra milk added although this can be high in carbs. (I use carb control milk to cut the carbs) Put pizza sauce or spaghetti sauce on just about anything that sounds good to you. Lowfat cheeses can be fried to make chip like crispy treats Turkey pepperoni microwaved until crisp If you have a pressure cooker you can cook beef until really tender I have had vegetable beef soup several times from a pressure cooker Red Lobster has a tilapia filet cooked in a bag that is delicious (I just eat the fish) I tried some corned beef hash but it is kind of high in fat Campbells bean with bacon soup with a little Underwood deviled ham thrown in. Beans are good for you (high protein) Try frijoles - refried mexican beans French onion soup at Panera (not much protein but tastes good) - or black bean soup.

Thanks guys for the tips... LOL sometimes I feel like I have no imagination when it comes to making new foods. I will check out your recepies and see if I can stir myself up an appetite. I really like jerkey so I will try that. And the crispy cheese sounds sooo good too.

I have found this soup to be a new staple for me, I love it. Start with low fat chicken broth, add 12 oz can of chicken or 1 skinless chicken breast boiled in water & taco spices; add salsa and fat free refried beans... make it thick or thin to your preference. I eat it almost every day, and also my diabetic husband loves it, although He puts grated cheese and tortilla chips on top of his. Also chicken ( either of the above) with 2 TBS condensed healthy request cream of chicken soup a spoon of cooked carrots and a spoon of brocolis cut tiny or peas.... add a little garlic and oregano and to me it almost tastes like pot pie or chicken stew. Also I peeled a dill pickle, cut it up tiny and added it to canned chicken with some light miracle whip...delicious. I like things which seem more "normal" to me. I did good today even though I was around alot of chocolate candies at school. I also made my husband a nice 3 course meal, healthy but good. Even though I could not eat it I did ok. But I did find myself going in the bedrrom 1 1/2 hrs early and not having much energy. I think it was a little harder emotionally today, than I was conscious of....Valentine's day, well at least I was good to my heart.
