Any DSers here? My update...
Hi! I had my DS surgery with Dr. Marchesini in Brazil on 12-7-05. When I noticed this "December 2005 surgery date" message board, I thought it'd be cool to check in and see how others who had their surgeries about the same times as me were doing! Here's info on me...
I'm 5'2", pre-op I weighed 289, size 28 (most of the time... sometimes they didn't fit, but we don't have any stores around here that go bigger). I've lost 57 lbs, so I'm at 232! I can wear some 18-20 tops, 20-22 pants. I'm off of all four of my prescriptions. I can now walk barefoot without pain! I'm eating well, mostly protein. This morning for breakfast I had a one-egg omelett made with about 1/4 cup of chili, a slice of American and a slice of Swiss, and three tbsp of cream cheese. Yum! I'm trying to get in all of my protein, but can't seem to get over about 40-50 grams by eating alone. I'm waiting on the Proteca protein drink that I just purchased online, because I can't stand any of the other ones I've tried! I haven't had any nausea beyond the first couple of days after surgery (from anesthesia -- I always get that after surgery). No vomiting, and my "full" sensor still works wonderfully! I'm to the point where I can physically eat anything... however, I stay away from most carbs because they usually give me diarrhea, and most sugars because I know they're more easily absorbed. I started a water aerobics class three weeks ago that I love! My elementary students are noticing and starting to comment on how good I look! Life is good! I'm so glad I had the DS!
Anyway, I noticed reading through the recent posts, that everyone seems to have had the RNY. I know my experience is so much different, so I was wondering if there were any of you who had the DS in December? I'm learning my way around OH, and do know about the DS forum, and read and post there, but, again, I thought it would be neat to connect with others who had the surgery at about the same time and compare successes/problems. Most of the RNY questions I've seen don't have any relevance to me. I know that there are general WLS-related things that we all have, though, so I plan on staying tuned in!
Great to meet you all!
