Hi y'all Ok so last week when I saw my dr. he said it was time to try new foods one at a time. He suggested the following foods. I have trouble with chicken, I I tried ground beef - flaky fish - shrimp (unless it's mixed with lite mayo) - crabmeat 1/2 time is ok, 1/2 time I can eat cheese and egg with no probs. I'm reluctant to try any new foods because I don't want to get sick. I take one or two bites and I'm in pain and it needs to come up. I can eat soup, yogurt and soft things ok. But I'm unable to move to the next level. I am about 6 weeks out. Is anyone else having these problems? I feel like I should be exposing myself to different foods but...

Jennifer - I had the same problem - could only eat yogurt, pudding, cottage cheese, and string cheese. Anything else made me sick. My doctor suspected a stricture so did a scope yesterday. Sure enough, my opening where my pouch was attached to intestine was only 1/3 the size it should have been. So he stretched it and on the way home I stopped and had a Wendy's chili - it tasted so good and I had no problems. So my advice would be to check with your doctor again - maybe you have a stricture also.

Make sure you are taking very small bites and chewing very well. (in case you aren't)

Hi Jennifer, I had the same problem. It seemed like I could eat more food and more variety at two weeks out than I could at 5 weeks out. It seemed like the day I made it to six weeks the light went on in my body. I am begining to eat things that I did not think I would ever eat again. I have really hard times with chicken. I decided that I would make fried chicken for my son and I was able to eat 1/2 of a chicken wing. I did not get sick! I know that we are not suppose to eat fried foods but it stayed down fried when it would not stay down baked or boiled so I'm eating it! I ate a grilled brat (1/2 of one) today. I had an all beef hotdog yesterday. I am trying all kinds of things because it seems like the things that I am suppose to have make me sick. Try eating something that you really want or have a taste for and remember to take really small bites. If that works, just keep trying new things. I am sure that it will get better soon. I did.

I eat vegetarilan refried beans with lowfat cheese and pureed salsa mixed in at least 4 times a week. also, if you start with low fat chicken broth add 1 can of the beans, salsa and a 12 oz can of chicken it is really good. Does even the shredded chicked like SwaNSONS ETC bother you, it is ok for me because it is already so small. I have tried eggs 4 ways over several weeks, and they just do not work for me. I have had good luck with very lean ham, it is so soft it is easy to chew. GOod luck

Jennifer, I am almost at 8 wks. I started eating regular foods early, alittle too early before my nutritionist said so and everything was fine then. But this past week, I have been finding myself not able to tolerate at lot of solid foods anymore. I was blaming it on a stomach virus because after I ate I would get a stomachache but I have come to realize that there is certain solid foods that I can not tolerate at this time. Things that I was eating fine now is hard for me to digest like chicken, ground meat and turkey. I can still tolerate shrimp but it has to be chewed a million times. I am ok with soup, mashed potatoes, mashed vegetables, some pasta. So I guess my pouch is telling me to eat soft foods for right now. Hopefully, I will get the urge to eat solids again. I was kind of enjoying it a little here and there. JaNae
