On the weight lost subject.....
I had my surgery on 12/1 and as of today I have lost a total of 39# I went to see my Dr. last week and he told me that I was loosing a little bit slow, by 2 months you're suppose to loose 30% of your overweight and I was at about 26%, so he told me that I really need to make sure I consume 70G of protein, I know I wasn't and eat 1000 cal a day and exercise this I have been doing faithfully everyday 2 mile walk 5-6 a week. So I have really done my 70G a day since last wed. (Dr. visit) and guess what I have lost 4# since I am really carefully about my protein now. I guess it really make a difference. Also your starting weight has to do alot with it, because if you compare yourself to somebody that has a lot more weight to loose I guess it's easier to feel bad. I started at 284# now I weigh 245# I am happy because I really feel the difference in the way I can move and down 2 pants sizes, and I also have a very happy husband. My oldest son (6 yrs)is noticing my changes he told me the other day that my face is smaller, I don't know about you but in my face you can really tell my weight lost, I wi**** was my butt lol. So ladies lets push for the protein drinks and exercise and take the weight off faster.

When I went into a stall I had to up the protein and the water to get moving again. I too felt bad because to me it seems I am slow. I have been averaging about 2lbs a week, Had to ask my self when was the last time you were losing two a week. Ummmm in the 70's with diet pills.
My face and neck have gotten smaller also. I think I look tired and old. But people keep saying I look good. I think they are looking at my body and not my face. Or just don't want to tell me I look old now. They say this will pass as your body catches up. Sure hope so!!!! I am wearing my too big clothes so I really don't know my new true size. Besides there are enough different sizes in my closet I don't need to shop yet.
My lap rny was Dec 9 and I have lost 44 lbs, but sometimes I have plateaus too and it sucks. I started at 311.7 lbs. I also think increasing the calories may be key to keep our bodies from thinking we are starving and trying to hold on to everything we give it. My daughter lives in KC, I am North of Seattle, and her surgery was a month before mine. She has lost 60 lbs. Neither of our Dr.s said anything about a formula for losing X pounds in X time. That seems like a set up to fail to me....??? We just gotta keep eating right, drinking and getting in the exercise. I have to do mine in the local pool due to bad knees and a foot.(both shoulders, too...so I can not swim but I do jump, kick and move my arms non stop for 30-40 minuters 3-4 times a week. This seems to be working for me.
Hi Diana, I had my surgery on 12/2, and when i went to see the doctor on 1/16 I had lost 18 pounds , (6week check up), and i was noticeably upset about how much i had lost. In fact I had not lost one pound since Christmas and had been talking once a week since then to the nutritionist. They told me I was average and that i should be happy with what i lost. Well, i told them I was not, and that something must be wrong. We went over my food diarys which i have been keeping since the stall. Hitting my 75 in protein, drinking the water, walking on the treadmill every day for 45 minutes to an hour at 2.8 mph. they told me I wasnt eating enough food. I have been consistently hitting 950-1100 calories every day. It's really an odd thing to tell me after all this that i am not eating enough. The doctor told me i was too upset over it all, and that perhaps I should see a therapist. I told him he was crazy, and that I didnt do this to not lose weight. In fact, I cant see any difference, in fact i am losing weight slower than if i had just gone on a diet of 1000 calories a day with added exercise. The only difference i see is that I cannot cheat, because I cannot eat much. I dont eat sweets or fatty items because I am too afraid of dumping, which I havent done at all. At this rate, I feel like such a failure. The nutritionist, the doctor, everyone says I am right on track, but it doesnt feel that way based on everything i read here. When I told the doctor that, he said, aahhhh, I'm not much into that internet stuff. But when you live too far from the nearest support group, what else do you do?
The bottom line, is, I have done every suggestion that I have read here, pushed the protein, pushed the water, exercised every day, (I havent missed but 3 days since surgery), and still no results. I am so disheartened.

How are you doing now? I am only loosing maybe 1-2 pounds a week. Very frustrated. As you said, I could do that before surgery with 1000 cals and walking. Seems like I went through a lot for not much help. My weight didn't start out as high as some others (227.5). What did yours start at? I'm wondering if that is why its so slow. I'm still in most of my clothes. I'm so jealous of everyone who has gone down sizes and whose weight loss has really been noticed. Sunny
I had my surgery on 12/05/05 and as of today I have lost 50 lbs, but I was stuck at 45 pounds for about 3 weeks. I would flucuate about between 45-47 lbs. I was frustrated. I kicked up my exercise and the protein and the scale finally moved this week. I have to say that even when the scale was not moving people were still telling me they could see the change, so maybe inches were still coming off. Water, exercise & protein seem to be crucial. Hang in there
