What is "normal" anyway? Just stick to your eating plan and try to do some exercise for 1/2 hr at least 3 times a week or more, and you will be fine. I had my surgery 4 days after you and I weighed 311.7 and now I weigh 268.5, but I had a period of almost 3 weeks where I only lost 1 1/2 lbs (between Christmas and Newsyears and on)... that was depressing. I am almost 54 and short, so it has made a big difference for me. I try to focus on doing my best each day and I keep an exercise journal as well as the food one. THINK HOW MUCH WE WOULD HAVE GAINED OVER THE HOLIDAYS OTHERWISE.... SO SEE HOW MUCH AHEAD OF THE GAME WE ARE??? Prayer and grattitude help me too.HANG IN THERE.

Sharon, I also have worried that I'm unusual with a slower weight loss. I think it might be that I eat sporatically and miss meals. I'm going to try to eat at regular times and not miss meals. I understand that regular meal times is important to keep the body on the weight loss path. Not eating puts my body in starvation mode where the metabolism stops, therefore doesn't continue working on losing weight. I don't know if you have this problem too. But, I'm going to try this and see if it helps. And I agree with another responder (can't remember the name sorry) that gosh we are losing more weight than if we tried on our own, especially over the holidays! Hang in sweetie you are still on the losing side. In a way I think it is better to lose slower, our skin gets a chance to adapt so maybe we won't get the sagging skin that I worry about. I hope so. Sharon, I have tried to keep a daily food journal, but, for the most part, haven't seen the use of it. I can't seem to get all the "protein first" meals in, as well as, fruit and vegetables. I don't know how you all are able to do it. For one thing, and I have mentioned this to my Dr., my morning meds give me no room left to eat breakfast. So, that in itself puts me behind in getting the 3 meals. And my night meds are even worse! I have to wait until my dinner is good and digested before I can even think of taking my nighttime meds. For instance yesterday: B: 9.5 oz achiev ONE L: 3 chicken drummets D: 4 chicken drummets fruit: 6 oz. OJ Veg: 6 oz. V-8 Calories: 650 Protein: 46g And this is a good day for me. I have protein drinks but where do I put it? I don't have room for more plus getting my water/fluid needs met. And my nutritionist is useless. When I went for my 2 week follow-up with my surgeon, I was having a very difficult time keeping food or fluids down and I wanted to see her for help. Even though I was "green with nausea" she kept telling me all the food I should be eating PLUS add fruit and vegetables! She told me she was going to call me after a few days following the appointment..and she never called. Not to mention, she was supposed to see me on discharge day after my surgery (Friday) and wasn't able to make it. The clinical supervisor/RN assured me the nutritionist would call me the following Monday, which she never did. Anyway, I'm glad you are doing OK with your diet. Lisa

Stay away from over 4 oz of anything! This is even true way after surgery per my nutritionist...not like LATER AND WE WILL EAT MORE. If we stretch out our stomach that can not be undone according to what I have been told. As far as the 1000 calories, if they are mostly protein and some veg/fruit it could be a good not a bad thing. Eating too little and our bodies think they are in starvation mode and want to hold onto everything we give them. I actually broke a period where I only lost 1 1l2 lbs in almost 3 weeks when my plan changed and I got to add different foods.

Shopping in the regular department!!! That's terrific! How did it feel? I remember shopping in the regular stores and being terrified that I would have to shop in the big girl section someday. Well, that was about 9 years ago and I'm 20 lbs from one-der-land. I can't wait to get back into an XL. Paige

I was worried that I wasn't loosing fast enough compared to others on the board also. My doctor and nut said I was fine. I had a two week stall. My nut felt I wasn't getting enough calories in. I upped the water and the protein drinks and the next week I finally started loosing again. It just seem strange, telling me I wasn't eating enough to loose. I put my body in starvation mode. Now I am trying to do more water and more protein. When the scale doesn't move the inches do. So I am very happy with the new me. Did your doctor sat a weight goal for you. We talked about mine. I didn't and don't want to weigh what the charts say I should. So WE argeed on a 80 to 100lb lost but he didn't give me a time frame. So I think that was nice of him, since I refused to weigh 130lbs

Hi Diana, I had my surgery the same day. As of this morning I am down 33 lbs. I often feel like i'm losing so SLOOOOOWWWWWW, but then again i didn't gain all my weight over night either. I'm so happy that its not 33lbs gained... Daniele
