Hi Becky! Don't feel DOWN--always remember this is a journey. Just like any journey with millions of other people, there are people who sprint to the front of the pack; those who are comfortable and easy-going in the middle of the pack; and those that encounter every speed bump possible at the rear of the pack. The great thing is, no matter where you are in the pack, everyone always finishes the journey! I read your profile, and you've experienced some "speed bumps" in your journey, so give it time You're doing all the right things! I'm almost 8 weeks out, and I still have small bouts of nausea every now and then. It doesn't usually last long. I laughed at #6 because each and every day I gag over and over while brushing my teeth--even today. Weird, isn't it? Be sure to communicate these issue to your surgeon or a member of his/her staff. It's better to be safe than sorry Besides, they're a great support system, too! Take care, Charity

Hi Becky, I had surgery 3 days before you and have gone through similar trials and tribulations. I have trouble with food not pureed, so I either puree it or go back to soups and soft foods like oatmeal or cream of wheat with protein powder(unflavored). I had real bad pain last weekend and thought maybe my staples had popped but it ended up being pulled muscles in my abdomen. The pain was bad for a week, then disappeared. I felt a little nauseated. Once I realized it wasn't serious, I calmed down. I think everyone has things going on while post op, but the doctor or his nurses are there for that reason. My surgeon said there is no stupid questions, so just call if you have a question or concern. I have called several times and always felt better. Most of the time, what we go through is text book post op, but you won't know until you call. Good luck to you. I believe everyone who tells us that these days will get better. Feel better soon. Lee.

I was sick too and told my Dr. he said 5% of WLS patients have this "morning sickness" but with me it was all day sickness. Just the thought of food made me ill. Nothing was appealing to me. And getting my fluids in was next to impossible. I was fine the first week after surgery, no nausea or vomitting. But the next 3 weeks were awful. If I wasn't nauseated I was throwing up. And I still gag when I have to take my morning and evening medications, almost throw up. And brushing my back teeth makes me gag too. I am feeling much better now. I was so lightheaded while I was sick, I felt like I was going to pass out and that scared me. Boy am I glad that is over. I think what really helped me turn around was that I decided the heck with trying to eat if it makes me sick. So I just focused on taking in my fluids, and I think that is what helped me. So, I am proof "that this to shall pass". Take care and hope you get to feeling better soon. Lisa
