Help...
I would appreciate ANY incite. I am feeling pretty DOWN about this.
Last week I started FINALLY feeling better. But, this week it's the same old stuff.
1) I can't drink any cold liquids.
2) I have trouble with nausea
3) Thus leading to eating issues
4) I have a constant dull ache in my tummy.
5) Sometimes I take ONE small bite and UP it comes.
6) Toothpaste almost always brings about the dry heaves
7) Almost every morning I feel like I will throw up and can't eat anything until almost 12:00.
Is anyone else having this kind of trouble. Or have you read anything???
Thanks~
Becky
I know you don't want to hear it but it does get better. I was so weak when I came home. I would read people came home working out, walking etc. I could barely make it to the bathroom. I took me two hours to bath and dress every day. The only thing that wasn't making me ill was the protein drink. And it was the worst tasting thing. I have changed since then. Water even wanted to come back up. I had to change to bottle water. Cold water made me ill. Everything had to be room temp. That pain in your tummy may be where they went in with all the tools to do the surgery. Mine still hurts a little in that area. It took me a month to finally stop saying I was so tired and sleeping day and night. I still get tired but not like about to drop if I don't lie down. You might look and feel better on the outside but your insides need time and a lot of TLC. Also I keep trying different forms of food but I always go back to the soft. They don't hurt and feel a lot better going down. There is no big hurry to go to solids.
I had my surgery Dec.7th. The first 10 days went ok, then for weeks I had similar things to what you experience. Most times it felt like whatever I had tried to eat was sitting just at the top of my esophagus. Unfortunately, as time went on it got worse for me until I couldn't even keep liquids down. I had an endoscopy done two days ago and feel ever so much better. The nausea is gone, my tummy feels fine, no more vomiting. It used to take me four hours or more to "clear" things so I could even take a drink of water. I never got all my liquids in because of so much time lost waiting to feel better enough for it to be able to stay down. It was a painless procedure for me and Dr. says I need one more "balloon" treatment in a few weeks. I am back on clear liquids, but to feel better is worth it. I had gotten to the point that I didn't think I would ever feel normal again and this procedure has given me hope. Maybe you should talk to your dr. and make sure you don't have a stricture. Don't give up, you just have to find the reason this is happening and that will help you fix it.
Becky,
I am going through some very similar issues. I have one good day when I get lots of liquids in and three or four when nothing and I mean nothing wants to stay down. In fact, last Sunday was a really bad day I had to leave work by ambulance. I was so embarassed. I keep hoping that things are going to get better, and I am sure they will. I just know I hate feeling the way I do now.
So, do not feel alone it seems like there are alot of us going through it.
Melissa
Becky,
You are not alone...I'm not able to eat anything solid without feeling that it's sitting there for an hour. By the end of the day I feel completely drained and I can't even get anything done around the house. I keep staying with soft foods and liquids, those I can tolerate. I'm told by many that this too shall pass...I sure as heck hope so.
In the meantime, hang in there. Thanks for getting us to talk about it.
Maria
Hey Maria~
I am so glad to hear I am not alone. I know what you mean about hearing "it will pass." I sure hope so too. I did this to feel BETTER and I just feel lousy.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts. It's nice to know that people are going through some of the same things. It can feel pretty isolated.
Blessings~
