What is your best pouch happy food?
I had surgery 10 days before you. I am not sure if you eat canned chicken or not, but it does seperate into tiny pieces easy to chew. I mix it with some light Miracle whip and eat it often. 2 days ago I made some soup.....canned lowfat chicken broth, 4 oz shredded canned chicken, vegetarian fat free refried beans and 3-4 oz salsa( put in blender first.) This comes out thick and creamy and is delicious. 3 oz of this and I really feel like I had a great meal. Even my husband loved it, although he ate his with tortilla chips!
Little dices of cheese.....smaller than your baby finger nail
cottage cheese and yogurt mixed together. It seems to soothe my pouch. I mix a cup every night for my evening meal or I won't eat an evening meal. I was told you would stall if you didn't get in enough calories a day. Never thought I would be worrying about I didn't eat enough.
No kidding! I never thought I would worry about eating enough either, but I definitely do! The other day I only managed to get in 175 calories and I felt like I tried so hard! I want to lose fat, not muscle, so I that is why I am trying to get suggestions on pouch friendly food that I might be able to eat!

For some reason I agree shrimp works great! Fish really of any kind, grilled not fried. I am also having trouble in the soft solid stage. I have struggled with thinking I could eat certain things as soon as I got to this date and was surprised to see that some of those things didn't sit well. Bread must be toasted, portions must be limited.
I did well eating about 1 to 1/2 cups of food on pureed, now on soft solids I can only eat 1/2 to 1 cup. It surprised me a great deal that the pouch has such control in this stage.
But that's a good thing 'cause I continue to lose and the more I lose the easier it is to exercise. I'm doing a mile a day on the treadmill at 2.5-3.0.
I'm winded afterward, but don't collapse. I'm determined to incorporate exercise for a faster and healthier weight loss. I encourage everyone to do the same. It becomes addicting when the weight comes off. If your in a stall stage exercise more.
Keep up the good work honey! Write anytime!

Hi Holli,
I am loving my treadmill too! It is WAY too cold to walk outside!
Right now I am doing 3/4 a mile at 2.5, longer or faster than that seems to get my incisions hurting for some reason.
Right now my food portions are too small and I can't eat enough. That is making me weak and it is hard to exercise. It is a downhill spiral! My dietician told me to add another protein supp. so I hope that helps and I can start doing a mile or more at a time.

Hi Jennine,
My favorite is whole oats microwaved with cinnamon and water, then I add milk and splenda and protein powder(unflavored). Cream of wheat is also good but I feel like I'm eating something that is whole grain and good for cholesterol. I also do well with pureed chicken or turkey and mayo, and have even added pureed romaine or red leaf lettuce to it and it goes down well. I still have trouble vomitting if I try regular food. I guess I don't eat it slow enough or I don't chew it enough and it stays in my esophagus. I prefer to eat pureed food primarily for now.
Finally hit a food pouchy doesn't like - moist, tender, juicy chicken breast. Went down so far and no further - painful. I was determined not to upchuck so stuck it out til it went down but will wait quite a while before trying it again. One bite was a huge lesson. Finished dinner with my perfectly safe cream of wheat and unjury.
