What is your best pouch happy food?
I have learned who is the boss.... it is my pouch and it is in total control. Despite what "I" may want to eat, if it is different than what my pouch wants, I get a hard lesson...
So, what food is working for you? You know, the food that is WLS friendly, has lots of protein, and still manages to make your pouch happy...
Almost everything I put in there upsets my tummy. So, I have been living off of fat free refried beans with melted low fat cheddar. I am sick of beans, but pouchy still loves them!
What food is working for you?
Girl;
I have learned that same lesson this weekend. The pouch is the boss. I have found soups work good. I was able to tolerate tuna salad. But I have been having a bout of throwing up. If I don't chew things REALLY good the pouch empties. Carb control yogurt works good and cottage cheese works good too. jello and pudding. sugar free of course.

My pouchy's absolute favorite is 1 T cream of wheat, 1/4c fatfree milk(lo-carb if you can find it) 1 scoop of Unjury unflavored (unjury.com) and a splenda and a couple squirts of I Can't Believe It's Not Butter. Kinda tricky to cook - let me know if you're interested and I'll detail the cooking. But this stays with me better than anything else. No gas or cramping. (my kitchen looks like a chemistry lab)smile
Zuchini sliced thin, cauliflower and broccoli for vegetables (cooked really soft). Shrimp has also been really easy. Tried scallops(too stringy) salmon (too dry) sea bass (too dry). Chicken thigh will be my next newby but I'm doing OK with just the shrimp right now. We were out to eat a couple of times and refries went well and shrimp ****tail appetizer did it the other time. Also 98% fat free turkey lunch meat is really moist and goes down easy. Tried 98%fatfree turkey no-beans chili (1 Tbsp) on an egg substitute omlette. Tasted ok but the egg substitute tends to get tough in an omlette.
I'm averaging 5-600 cals with 80-110g protein. You could add 1 scoop of unjury unflavored to your refries which would add 20g protein per scoop.
Hope this gives you some ideas. Good luck.

My DH bought some smoked salmon in a foil pouch the other day and it wasn't the usual toughened dry chewy fi**** was tender and juicy and went down real easy. Pouchy was ok but I only had one bite and didn't look at the ingredients. Can'd salmon is ok but needs something saucy to get it down. Same for tuna. I bought the book Eating Well after WLS and most meat or fish recipes are in sauce.
Wow! That all sounds fabulous!!!
I haven't been half as daring in my experimentation because everything seemed to make me sick.
I am glad to hear shrimp worked good, I have some shrimp ****tail in the fridge right now waiting to thaw! I do have unjury tasteless and sprinkle it in various things. If I add a whole scoop, it tends to liquify whatever I'm eating and can taste a little gross, so I usually go with half a scoop. I am only eating 2-3 tbs. at a time, so my feedings are small or I dump (literally out the backend!)
Thank you for all the tips!
Went out to eat with the family yesterday and I purchased the roast tilapia at Red Lobster (they roast it in a bag). It was really good, and very moist. I ate it with the tiny fork they use to serve the lemons with it.....it kept me eating really small bites and I finished same time as everyone else.
I also tried a bit of my son's broiled flounder....it was tasty as well.
This coming from a guy that didn't eat much seafood pre-op. Just didn't care for it ----- my tastes have changed.
