Milk and the sugar count....

I am not sure if you guys are aware but.... An 8 ounce cup of milk contains 12 grams of milk sugar (they actually say "Sugar.....12 g". I found that my local Walmart carries a "Carb Countdown" brand of milk that has only 3g per 8 ounce cup. It really doesn't taste bad and has the same amount of protein as regular milk. They carry a chocolate flavored milk as well with the same sugar and protein count. They keep the milk with the normal sweetness because they add splenda.

Hi Dan, I really like the chocolate carb countdown. I add 1 scoop of flavorless whey protien to eight oz of warm carb countdown for like 28 grams of protien total in the mornings, what a wonderful cup of hot chocolate. I don't care for the regular flavor because I think that it tastes sweet, but my nut says she cuts it with skim milk and tastes much better. Sherr

Hi Tbone I was made aware of this but was also told by the Nut. that it is natural sugar & not added so it won't hurt us. It's the same amt. in all types of milk & I drink Skim, fat free but also checked whole milk & 2% & they all have 12gms. Deb

If you are concerned about blood sugar levels you certainly need to account for the milk sugar. It raises your blood sugar levels pretty consistently. My blood sugar has been very good lately - until I have that glass of skim milk.
