The Big Q!

All, The past week has been one of blahs and queasiness! Last Thursday, I started experiencing new stomach problems. I went from heartburn from something simple as taking a deep breath to feeling ready when I drink or eat anything. It progressed to actual physical pain. Well, after a week of this I called my surgeon (I know!). I had an upper GI yesterday and the results came back normal. It was amazing to me that the lab tech didn't check to see that I had a recent RNY and the Radiologist told her she had set up the wrong barium liquids for me. My new stomach on X-ray looked like a small plum. The test came back normal. I'm still experiencing physical pain when I swallow and the food settles in my stomach. So, they have me set up for a EGD next week. I was talking on the phone while watching 'Dancing With the Stars' and not paying attention to what I was consuming and snarfed down my food. It lodged in my stomach and I was doubled over with pain. It took 90 minutes of constant running before it came up. I have never been so happy to in my life. Now, my actual stomach is sore to the touch. In the past few weeks I could consume my liquids with no problem. Now, I'm back to sip, sip then I'm uncomfortably full. Chauncine ~27lbs

Do they have you on Prevacid or anything, Chauncine? My surgeon put me on it just as a precaution. Maybe that might help. I'm sorry you're going through this! I know for me if I eat anything that isn't soft - even fish will make me I don't think my pouch is ready for it yet!

Jennifer, He did give me two sample packs of Prevacid. I took all of them and the symptoms have gotten worse. I will see him this Monday for my 1 month follow-up visit. My fear is that I'm developing an ulcer. I'm babying my pouch today. Yesterday was the first time I've since surgery. I think the queasiness is worse than the actual act. Thanks for your concern, C~

Chauncine~ If there is one thing I have learned since my ER bowel obstruction issue. DON'T mess around with pain!! Go in and tell your doctor that something is wrong. Trust your instincts. Then, if it's nothing...CELEBRATE. But, if it is something, it can be fixed. Blessings~ Becky

All, My surgeon went over my upper GI test results and the plumbing is working well. It seems that there is a nasty stomach virus in my area. I had body aches, stomach pain and nausea. If there had been a blockage I would've had some episodes. I've only thrown up once in 5 weeks. I was given my clearance to go back to work next week. Two days later I'm feeling pretty good. Thanks for your concern, Chauncine
