Updates...Progress Reports...
Hi JaNae and thank you for the welcome
First of all I'd like to say, thank you thank you thank you for the recipes...I feel like a duhdiduh since the surgery, like I need a hand to hold all the time. I whine when my momma is not here and now that I don't have good recipes, but I did check online and found some other good ones. I do like what you posted and will try that ....
Second, I never did introduce myself....
best thing is to look at my profile b/c you can REALLY get to know me there, a lot of personal info and wow, do I let the info go now, funny how this transformation has allowed me to express myself and get my writing juices flowing...My goal is to write a book and I will do it oneday...
I am 35, single mom to one terrific 10 year old, living in NC now (born and raised in NY, lived in Northern VA for 11 years), I began the WL journey at 273lbs, and with a ton of health ailments and now off all meds, ALL MEDS! No one believes me when I tell them, but you guys understand.
I try to walk everyday, even just up and down my block. The weather in NC is amazing and I have no excuses except laziness or if I feel not so hot. I am committed to myself and my progress first and foremost.
You can see pictures of my family and I on the webpage...I try to update often...
Peace and love to all of us,
Shannon
Well...the good news is that as of yesterday, 16 days post-op, I'm down 31 pounds and overall I am feeling good and tolerating food (what little I eat) well.
The bad news is that 2 of my incisions don't want to heal well. Last Friday, I had to go back to the hospital to have them cleaned and at yesterday's checkup, my doctor is not happy with the way they look and wants to go in one more time to clean things out. Mostly precautionary, but not being healed on the outside, is driving me bananas. I feel, at times, like I've been run over by a mack truck.
This too shall pass. Keep up the great work everyone!
Maria

Hi, I'm a month out-today. I'm down 29 pounds, that seems slower than most-but I figure it may be because I'm 52 and through menopause already. I have the opposite reaction than some here-I absolutly cannot stand anything to be lukewarm-it must be freezing cold or really hot for my pouch to say-"ok". I'm really having a hard time with any kind of meat-unless it's pureed with a little mayo (fat free of course), but to eat soft fish or chicken-no way-feels like I swallowed a golf ball. Easiest on me is Wendys chili, or refried beans with a little cheese melted on and baked corn chips for dipping. Also like WASA bread with some cheese or crackers in my tomato soup. YUM
JaNae,
Hi
Today was supposed to be my first day on soft foods. I'm tenatively venturing into this next phase. My 9 year old asked me tonight if I will ever be able to eat solid foods? I told him yes, but in really small quantities.
I have been taking Prevacid since my 1st week checkup. The heartburn is still there. It's the nausea that is causing concern because it is coming more frequently. I'm still off work so, I can lay down when it hits me. I still struggle with getting in all of my fluids. I can manage my protein drinks and vitamins. My only complaint is that my internal heater is off kilter. I'm always freezing! I'm am finally using some of the exercise equipment I've collected over the years. I still hate my treadmill but, find that I get more enjoyment out of my Gazelle. I can do 30-35 minutes on it without breaking a sweat (probably because I'm so cold). It's easy on my knees and quiet.
I am also happy with my WLS decision because it has had such a positive impact on my diabetes. I went from 5 shots a day to maybe 1-2 shots a week as needed.
