I'm back! How are you all doing + RECIPES!
Hello everyone! I'm back from Christmas and surgery. I went to stay with family after the surgery b/c they were closer to the Surgical Center than I was. Surgery went well (RNY). My one week apt I had lost 14lbs. I am happy with that and will see what I can do before the one month checkup. I'm on liquids for 3 weeks and pureed three weeks. I found a really good recipe for getting the protein in. Mix a single serving of SF choc pudding with a full scoop of choc protein powder and 1/2 cup milk. Mix well. Makes 2 servings. Good Stuff. I also have a recipe for a thicker soup. Mix 1 cube chix bouillion with a 1/2-1 scoop unflavored protein powder. Hope this helps guys. Keep up the good fight! We'll be done with this stage soon!
FOR THOSE ON PUREED STAGE:
(I got this from another member)
Egg Drop Soup
Servings: 4
Ingredients:
4 cups chicken broth, divided
1/8 teaspoon ground ginger
2 tablespoons chopped fresh chives
1/4 teaspoon salt
1 1/2 tablespoons cornstarch
2 eggs
1 egg yolk
Directions:
1. Reserve 3/4 cup of chicken broth, and pour the rest into a large saucepan.
Stir the salt, ginger and chives into the saucepan, and bring to a rolling
boil. In a cup or small bowl, stir together the remaining broth and cornstarch
until smooth. Set aside.
2. When the broth is boiling, add the broth/cornstartch mixture and bring to a boil again.
2. In a small bowl, whisk the eggs and egg yolk together using a fork. Drizzle
egg a little at a time from the fork into the boiling broth mixture. Egg should
cook immediately.
It says it can be reheated or frozen.
Best wishes everyone!

ALERT - my surgeon has made it clear I am not to have any garlic or ginger for 2 weeks pre and 4 weeks post op. It thins the blood and makes healing more challenging.
This rule would apply to any spice/herb beginning with a G, vitamin E, Aleve/advil/ibuprofin.
he's very firm on this rule and they made a specific call me to me 2 weeks out to make sure I was not having any of this.
