IM HOME!
well its all over with! i have my band! surgery went fine yesterday. was about 1.5 hours. i stayed overnight at the hospital. got home this afternoon.
my experience overall was very good. i am very fortunate to know everyone who was part of my surgical team as i work w/ them everyday.
during my stay overnight i needed something for pain a few times. i came home w/ a rx for lortab elixer. generic is hydrocodone. i just took some as i am a bit uncomfortable. i have no lower abdominal pain...just upper ab pain...like i have done 1,000 crunches (not that i know what that feels like!).
i had some apple juice before i left the hosptial. had some apple juice when i got home and a sugar free jello as well.
there are apparently 2 different sizes of bands. my surgeon told me that most men and most everyone w/ bmi's of 50+ need the larger band. i got the larger one. i forget the reasoning behind it but it made sense how he explained it. there is a small amount of saline in it but not to where there is restriction yet. i go for a followup in two weeks and then for my first fill in 5-6 weeks.
OMG HOW HORRIBLY AWFUL is all i can say about the taste f/ the gastrogafrin swallow this morning. you would think that they could add some sort of cherry flavoring to make the taste not so bad. but it was nothing less then nasty! thankfully there were no leaks or obstructions as planned!
i am currently having very uncomfortable pressure when i need to burp. i am not sure if i can call it painful but it is very noticeable to me. i am sure it is because all of the swelling inside.
i weighed when i got home and was 349. i weighed 342 a few days ago. i know this because of all the IV fluid. No, i did NOT expect a miracle wt loss already!
it is very nice to be home. now, to see what a big loser i can REALLY be!!
