Help
I am so upset. I am starting to get sick. I have heard all kinds of nasty things, like for instance if I am sick I will not be able to have surgery. Could someone please tell me if that is true. I am planing to go to the doctor at some point today (since its already Thursday). I have a scratchy throat, I am sneezing. I really hope its only a sinus infection. This is what normally happens when I get a sinus infection.
Any suggestions??
Melissa
I went to a surgery support group meeting at my local hospital on Tuesday night and one of the people there said they had complications that kept them in the hospital a couple of extra days because they had a cold the day of the surgery and didn't tell the doctor. Where you still have almost two weeks, I would tell them and treat it aggressively. If it is a sinus infection you should still be able to clear it up. If it is a cold, you should be able to "encourage" it to run it's course before your date.
Good Luck,
Kim
Kim,
I dont want to be in the hospital any more than what I have to be. I was going to see my family doc today, but the weather is horriable. Its not safe to be on the roads. SO, I guess I have to wait until tomorrow. I have been through so much the past month and a half, I just dont want any set backs,
Thanks,
Melissa
Melissa,
If I was you I would call your doctor to see if you can get an antibiotic. Yes, you will be unable to have surgery if you are sick. I was sick all last week with the flu and the nurses that I work with kept telling me that I needed to do something about it or I won't be able to have surgery. Certain over the counter medications can thin the blood if you take it prior to surgery. If its just a sinus infection, you can take Tylenol products. But I recommend you calling or going to see your doctor while you still have time to get something in your system and let it work through you. I wish you all the luck and hope that you get well soon!
