Post Op Update
Hi everyone,
I thought my experiences might be helpful for those of you waiting for surgery.
I had lap RNY on 12/5. I was out of surgery and in my room by 11:00 a.m. Very little pain; more from the sore throat than the incision. Had no problem with ice chips and water and although I was armed with several chap-sticks, really had little problem with dry lips. DH was a task master with the spirometer. Was up Monday evening and did my first hall lap. Switched from morphine to percoset and felt much less queasy. Tuesday did lots of laps and got apple juice. Got to go home Wednesday afternoon.
Have had very little pain; am only taking the percoset before bedtime. I find I doze a bit...hard to watch a movie. Did a bit of shopping on Saturday. Fine for the first store but then napped in car while DH braved the second one.
The biggest annoyance is the drain tube and bulb.
I have been following a clear liquid diet but find I have to remember to eat---not hungry. Water has not been a problem.
Hope everyone else's surgery goes as well.
Karen
