11 days to go!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and starving :)
Deborah are you already doing your protein? I'm on full liquids (this is actually my second time doing it since my original surgery got postponed last minute....) and doing my protein. I've found that if I have about 40 grams of protein first thing in the morning it helps a LOT! Our body processes protein much slower so you don't get as hungry as fast. Also, drink more frequently.... you water, SF drinks and protein suppliments. Use free foods (if your surgeon allows it) like SF jello and broths. Think about this Deborah - it's not forever. It's a temporary situation that can benefit your surgery in so many ways and you can get through this!!!!
Your restricted diet will:
1. Help you get ready for your new life.
2. Help you shrink your liver so that your surgeon has a better visual field.
3. Get your intestines/bowel track cleared out so that IF there is a tear, you won't be built up with feces (sorry) matter in your insides which would increas your chance of infection.
4. (My own opinion here).... liquids will help shirk your stomach, thus, less "organ" to work on and again - better visual.
Hang in there, it gets easier after the first few days.
