What r u doing to prepare?
Wow! I can't believe all the December "to-be losers"! I thought I was the only one crazy enough to want the surgery in December (w/ all the holiday commotion!)
Anyway my date is December 26. I am in Nursing School and my final is December 22 - so I decided to get through the Christmas weekend before having the surgery!
What is everyone doing to prepare for this most important moment in our lives? Any words of wisdom on avoiding the urge to over eat at our "last Thanksgiving, Christmas, whatever" family meal??
Best of luck to everyone!!
Blessings,
Holly Chadwick
Bianca -
I agree with you I am not going to totally stuff myself - but I think that I will enjoy the foods I always do at Thanksgiving - turnips w/ lots of butter; mashed potatoes made with light cream - all the things I know I will need to either minimize or eliminate post-surgery.
Unfortunately - I'm not done w/ Nursing School in December still have another year to go! I will graduate in December of 2006 - but at least I will complete my second semester But thanks for the positive thoughts!
Blessings,
Holly
I too am in nursing school but my final for the semester is Dec.12,2005 so my surgery is scheduled for Dec.13, 2005. Wow right.....but I wanted to wait until after my final and I dont want to be in the hospital on xmas so I took the first date I could. Some things I am doing to prepare is buying things like jello, broth, carnation instant breakfast to stock up so I dont have to go far after the surgery. Of course, I am going to enjoy my last good holiday meal which is Thankgiving.
Good luck to all the December surgeries and god bless.

My last day of classes is 12-10 and surgery is 12-13. I go back to school sencond week of January. I am taking time off from work too....maybe I'll finally get a rest. I will be done with school May 06 so I'm almost there...

Hi
My Date is Dec.5th. I am not a nurse but am a Caregiver to a Senior Citizen. Funny how many of us are in the "caring for others" field.
I am trying to remember to chew chew chew too too too, but I forget. I am thinking it will get easier after the surgery when I have my stitches to remind me.
I have been trying out protien powders to find some I like. Yes, I know your tast changes, but I figure it is ahead start plus I have to do the liquid diet for 2 weeks before anyway.
Also I bought some new slippers (on sale) the kind that slip on. I had the booties before.
I am looking into buying a personal blender for smoothies so I don't have the big blender to clean all the time.
Soon I will giving up my blood. My Diet Coke. It is the only think I have drank for as long as I can remember. I am drinking my stash gone and then I will not get more.
Good luck all
Anna
