Hi every one Does any one have Holiday recipies for baking and cooking that are low fat and sugar free? Holloween was not too bad. I am greatful for that because it was usually a big problem for me. Now Thanksgiving and Christmas are on the way and I feel somewhat vunerable. I have lost a lot of weight (115 pounds aprox.). Every one says I look good. In fact I have been called tiny, scrawny and someone even said I was too small. I am not used to people using those words to describe me. My appitie is good as well. In the past all those conditions added up to problems with food. Looking good, getting compliments, feeling hungry and the Holidays ment failure and weight gain for me. I have made alot of changes and I am hoping for the best. I am also greatful for this site since I get so much support here. I have been unable to attend support group meetings at the surgerey center because of work, school, family ect. Any way how about those recipies? Madeline

Madeline - Sorry no specific recipes - but I HIGHY recommend the magazine "Light & Tasty." It is a great magazine - not weight-loss surgery specific - but lots of ideas from low-fat to sugar free and everything in between. Also - NO ADS!! I like that Also - I have tried almost every recipe from Susan Maria's "Before & After" book. My husband teases me that not only did we pay for the surgery (the co-pays). But we also paid for me to become a gourment cook Makes me feel good. There are a some really great recipes in her book. Some are specific to the holidays. My biggest concern coming up are Christmas cookies. I am hoping to find some great sugar-free recipes. Holly

Hi Madeline, I don't have any recipe ideas either but wanted to point out there's a cooking/recipe forum. They may be posting holiday ideas there?

I am like the holiday baker w/all fat and sugar...but now I have to change... So I have tried the philly cream cheese that is low fat with some orange juice and the marshmallow creme which is very light on sugar. This makes a GREAT fruit dip! I did not have any problems digesting it. You can also use the fat free/sugar free puddings to make more like cream pies if you like those. I made a sugar free banana cream pie and it went over well.

I made a pie at Thanksgiving with a baked pie shell. I mixed a can of plain pumpkin, sugar free instant vanilla pudding powder, a tub of sugar free cool whip and some spices....ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon. Pour the mixture into the pre baked pie shell and chill. It was very well received by my non-dieting guests. I am planning a cherry thing for Christmas. I have sf instant cheesecake pudding, sf cool whip, sf cherry pie filling and this time I am adding some cream cheese to make it creamier. (More protein!) I was NEVER a baker so this is a new experience for me. I realize these are very easy recipes, but it makes the holiday meal complete in my opinion.
