Let's talk about hair- again
Hey sibs,
Well, I'm still losing hair. My six month labs came back low on zinc and iron- so I'm supplementing for both now. I've upped my protein. I take biotin. My physician's assistant told me that for some, cutting their hair shorter helps with the loss. I did that too. I'm thinking of shaving the dog for some implants next.
But what I'm wondering is... Has anyone colored their hair at this stage in the game? I'm desperate to rid myself of the mousy color but scared to death that it'll add to the hair loss. My surgeon says that honestly, they don't really know concretely what causes the hair loss- could be so many things together...
Well, make sure to take care of those zinc and iron levels!!! As far as the hair goes, I'm losing like crazy....BUT I have highlited twice and dyed once since surgery and have not had any increase in loss, other than what im already losing...lol, does that make sense? hope so...good luck!

I really think the hair loss has to do with hormones more than anything. I had just gotten mine in line and my hair had really thickened up before surgery. Since surgery I have lost some but have never had a handful fall out or anything. I have colored my hair every 6 weeks and have not had any problems with it falling out more. I have thin fine hair to start with but seem to have stopped loosing hair. You might get your hormones tested - you can do saliva tests through http://www.salivatest.com/ or have your doctor order them. Be sure to have all 3 estrogens tested along with progesterone and free testosterone. There are nice disappearing creams that compounding pharamists can make to take care of any deficiencies. A good book to read is "Hormone Hell to Hormone Well".

I've done everything I'm supposed to do and I'm on my third round of hair loss. I've colored it twice and haven't noticed a change after doing so. My texture has changed, but I do have some new growth. I hope I'm about at the end of the hair loss stage! I know we are all sick of that part of it!

Hi I have a lot of hair loss and dye my hair with out it really changing the amount of hair I lose.
Also, I know that with any major surgery, hair loss is almost expected... so don't blame yourself for the losing hair... it might be connected to your diet, but most likely it would have happened at this stage post op anyway
