Daring to Dream...
Hey Folks!
I am a lurker most of the time, but I just really watned to put this out there in the cosmos hoping that that will help me accomplish my dream..if others know, it seems more likely to happen, ya know? Anyway, every since I was a little girl I have dreamed of going into the Army. I was in ROTC in college, aced my ASVAB then found out I was pregnant & couldn't go in. After that my weight was always an issue so I had given up on my dream of ever getting to be a soldier. Finally I had the RNY in Dec & the thought started creeping back in that maybe I can do this - just to find out that I was then too old. BUMMER!! Well, I heard a rumor & Sat I went & talked to the Army recruitor. They have raised the age limit to 42 from 34!!! I am 34 now, so I have plenty of time. I am down @ 93 lbs since my surgery & to get in I just need to loose @ 30-35 more. I CAN SO DO THIS!!!! My hubby just got out of the Army in Feb. after 6 years & 2 tours to Iraq. I know what I am getting into. I am getting mixed feelings from friends & family, but my DH & my 3 daughters support me completely. I am so excited to know that this surgery has given me a new lease on life & a new chance to fulfill a dream that I had completely given up on. I still have a LOT of hard work ahead of me, but each day dawns with a renewed sense of possibilities and accomplishments! Thanks to all of you. I read your posts daily even though I seldom post myself. You are all an inspiration!!
So, here's to new dreams & old ones...may you all be able to make yours come true!!!
Have a great day...isn't it wonderful to be a loser?!?!?!?!
Best of wishes to you. My hubby is active army and I hear what you are saying. I took the ASVAB in high school and thought that I was too heavy then. I weighed about the same as I do now. At least you can count on one thing, You WILL get the exercise you need to get to goal! LOL.
Best Wishes
