Question?
I thought I would post on here with people like me that have been through all of this. My question is for the ladies. My wife is six weeks out of surgery and has lost very little weight although she is eating correctly (enough protein etc) and drinking plenty of water. Her surgeon says she is probably holding water and they aren't going to worry yet. He also told her to stay off the scale.
She is very frustrated. At what point does this begin to break.......Surely some of you guys went thru a similar thing.
Dear Dan,
I'm really writing just to give support...
I have been through several stalls, one at one month for two weeks, one at three months for two weeks, and one at five months for six weeks. It is very frustrating, but it does happen. If her surgeon is not concerned yet, it is probably nothing to worry about. You might want to be sure she is eating ENOUGH. Sometimes our bodies go into starvation mode when we are not getting enough food, and we stop losing weight. You can use fitday.com to track intake if you don't already.
I wish you and your wife the best!

Dan,
At my 6 week check up, I had only lost 2 lbs. When my surgeon walked in the room I was in tears. Since I was doing everything correctly she suggested that I may be retaining water, and that I see my PCP and get some water pills. Which I did and they have help immensly. Perhaps your wife might want to check that out. I hope I help alittle.

I didn't seem to lose a whole lot the first few weeks, 30 lbs I think. But have her measure herself and see what the difference is. She maybe surprised! It was the next 6 weeks that I jumped down the scale at a tremendous pace. I hope this will help her a little, also change some of the things she has been eating, sometimes the body just need a change to "shock" the body.
I hope this helps,
Brooke
