Donna, I am so happy for you. You sound like I did when I got home. I didn't even have to take pain meds. Enjoy being a looser. Love, Diane

Hi J, Thank-you for posting your letter. I used your format to draft my own letter. I waited 4 years for surgery in Canada, and had a date for June 5. My surgery was just cancelled due to lack of anesthesiologists, so rather than wait another four years, I am appealing to the government medical plan to fund the surgery in the US. Your letter is exactly the kind of detail that they like to have. Their criteria for approving out of country treatment is risk of death or medically significant irreversible skin damage (I wonder if stretch marks would count? ) Anyways, I appreciate your willingness to share your well researched work. Yeah..Go on a diet. If your going to die in 6 months, then you should probably go on a liquid diet. I'm sure your doctor can help you with that.

Tammy, potential death is a horrible motivator. In a perfect world it would be enough to kick your will to survive into gear so to speak. However, with the unhealthy relationships we tend to have with food and the awful eating habits we have it seems to do just the opposite. Now you can start to educate yourself about diet and exercise and looking into your options for bariatric surgery in the future. I know that I am not much help, but don't loose hope.

I know of a couple people who were on medicare and it paid for open RNY. Dr. Keith in Norman is wonderful. There is a place in Edmond, where Dr. Floyd is, and that office has a wonderful man named Kenny that can get anything done if it can be done. So, if you have medicare i would start there. If not, get started in that direction. Is there any possibilty of getting a loan? You can go to Mexico for 8200.00; which is what I'm doing. It is the lapband but they also do RNY but for quite a bit more. Best wishes, Robbin
