I'm on my way!!!
Chawan,
That's why I'm singing praises....
There is no way I would've been able to get in and out of the rides. No way I could've handled the miles and miles of walking. We left in the morning and didn't come home until park closing.
It was very hot last week. This summer please be careful. Bring a stroller and purchase a spray bottle before you get there (they charge $16 at the parks). They have little fountains that the little ones jump around in to get cool. I'd recommend one of those filtered water bottles for everyone in the family to refill at the water fountains.
The one thing that surprised me about parents with little ones is their forcing the kids to ride on totally inappropriate rides. Just because the kid is tall enough doesn't mean they should go on the rides.
Isaiah was 3 when I took him to Disneyland...he was a mess by mid-afternoon. I saw parents with newborns in the heat. We went on this ride called 'Dinosaur' and there was a man with his 4 year old daughter ahead of us. She was frightened in the line. On the ride, my 9 year old closed his eyes and let out high pitched screams. This little girl just sobbed and wailed. He told her to be quiet.
After the ride, she was just shaking. I wanted to slap him silly. We went up to her and told her that she was very brave. He rolled his eyes at us.

Evelyn,
You HAVE to say more........how else will things change? Mama always said the squeaky wheel gets greased. I could give you numerous examples of times I've used my voice or better yet, written a letter and gotten results. I applaud you and you are DEFINITELY not being unreasonable. This guy was the one being unreasonable and if I may say so.......DENSE!!!!! Vanessa in Claremore
Here's a silly question: What's a bariatric card?
ALSO: What Chinese place was it? I go out to eat in OKC at least a couple times a month and would like to avoid this place. They don't deserve my business..
Now.. It sounds like you had quite the issue at the Chinese place. I've avoided them since the surgery because I don't find it very fair to have to pay $8-$10 for food that I won't be eating. If anything, I just go ahead and make a regular order so that I can take my leftovers home for later and not have to worry about any drama from "take home" buffet food.
However, my mom has taken me to Western Sizzlin a couple of times (good grilled chicken!), and we get around the buffet thing bc only one of us will get the buffet. She doesn't eat much as a rule, so in the end, really two of us are eating roughly the same amount (if not less) than any regular person.
I understand that this won't work when the only thing you're getting is a buffet.. But usually if there's something I'm craving from the buffet, if my dinner pal got the buffet, they'll get me the small bite of whatever it was I wanted.
Cheating the system? Maybe.. Unfair? Maybe.. But no more unfair than having to pay full price when you're only eating about 1/8 of the food that you're having to pay for.
