I have a distant relative that may have some interest in having WLS. Since I am unfamiliar with the area, I am seeking your help. She lives in Statesville. Are there any support groups in the area that might be able to assist her, and possibly her husband, with information? To the best of my knowledge, they are not on the internet so I will have to call them with the information. Thanks a million for the help. By the way, I had an Open Roux-en-Y on August 26, 2003 and have gone from 321 to approximately 233. If I can get my husband and his family healthy again, I am really looking forward to going back to the Wellness Center to workout and especially enjoy the Aquacise classes. Love the pool and hot tub. Thanks again. Bye for now. Diane

Hi Diane - Hickory Surgical Clinic, Dr's Leland Cook and Montgomery Cox are in Hickory. Dr. Cook did my surgery in October and I also work for the practice. They just recently had a public seminar in Statesville. The next one is scheduled here in Hickory on April 22nd, I believe. If you want you can visit our website, www.hickorysurgical.com and all of the information is avalible on there. Also you can (828)315-5577 and speak with our Surgical Weight Loss Program. Good Luck! And congratulations on your loss! Ashley

Dear Diane, There will be a support group meeting March 25th in Winston Salem. I used Dr "fuzz" Fernandez at NC Baptist Hospital. He is associated with Wake Forrest University. He and his team are wonderful. I had surgery 01-13-04 and have had no problems at all. If you want further info on this group, email me and I will give you details. Good luck. Diane Needham

Hey I understand. I'm debating on cutting mine off too. I'm so sick of seeing hair everywhere around the house (I'm losing hair really badly). I have to literally clean the drain after every shower or it will stop up for hubby's shower. UGH! Best Wishes! Carol G.

I cut mine!!!!! I'm still loosing it but the cut did help take away the stringyness (is that a word) to it. I have worn my hair long and short. So it didn't bother me to cut it. Now if it didn't bother me to see it every where but on my head I would be OK. Still have all of my wigs so I am ready. And yes I have blonde wigs too. You know if I wear a burgundy one I have no problem being a blonde

I have always worn my hair pretty short but I'm still losing hair. I hate the thought of getting bald spots, but I guess there's nothing we can do about it at this point. It seems like I'm going to get some real sparse spots -- it just feels so different. Seems like I've been losing it for a long time now (surgery 12/16/05 andI know I've been losing hair for at least two months now). I may have to purchase a wig too.
