Surgery is March the 24th!
Hello-
At the beginning I lost a very good amount of hair, thank God I had really really thick hair. Because by the time I stopped losing it was a lil thinner than normal. but everyone is different. Never went bald just lost hair like strands when you comb ur hair only more.
I will be a yr out and know that i'm gonna need PS. I have bat wings. My arms I hate so much. I have a double tummy and my skin is lose. My thighs as well. I have been overweight since i was 8. So that also effects the skin. Hopefully you won't have the problem!

I was 24 when I had surgery and am now 26. I will be 2yrs out May 5th.
Hair is not that big of a deal, I did lose some .. but it was never really noticeable and it does come back!
Now skin is a whole other issue. But it's a trade off really. I mean now I am healthy! I am going to have my boobs and arms done May 25th and then I'll focus on my stomach. My arms bother me the most, because in the summer it is just impossible to hide!! Everything else I can hide comfortably and no one really has to see it.
The whole belief that we are young and our skin issues won't be as bad is just a bunch of crap! It depends on how long you have been over weight. If you have only been over weight a year or so then it is likely you won't have too many issues, but if you are like me and have been over weight most of your life well it's going to be an issue. My skin had been stretched its' whole life there is no way it could go back to where it should be. But my skin issues aren't a huge deal to me even now. I mean I can wear 3/4 sleeves and no one ever sees anything. But I would like to be able to wear shorter sleeves, so I am going to get my arms done.
Was it all worth it??? I say for sure! I'd do it all over again in a heart beat!
I haven't been overweight my whole life, and because of how fit I was before I got fat, my surgeon thinks I will have less sagging. But remember, whether it's wls or natural, losing weight will always cause skin "issues" so when you are writing your letters to the insurance company, remember to include possible plastics in it. my friend lost 80 lbs thru weigh****chers (which i failed miserable at) and she looks like she has a sharpei on her tummy. I guess you really have to think of it this way- a little removable skin for a lifetime of good health. id rather have all that extra skin, than 160 lbs of extra weight. I am right there with you, waiting to be approved. I have a huge fear of losing my hair, since it is already fine and thin. but most of my fears are being lessened as i read about the things other people are going thru. keep on researchng, you may find it alleviates your stresses.
Robin! Your surgery is the one before mine! Hee hee! How cool! My surgery is scheduled for 1:20 pm 3-24-04 with Dr. Fuzz
I hope that I get a room in the Stich Center so it is private, but if it is full perhaps we'll be sharing a room
I am worried too! I have a 4 yr old and a 15 mnth old. Both are boys
They and my hubby are my world! I will be praying for you! If you need someone to vent your stress to I am available after 4:45 in the evenings at 989-1184.
Sincerely,
Bobbie Tate
