Poor thing It stinks big time when your hurting in pain like you went through and even cramping all the time like I was dealing with. Must be acids building up I would tell Ron. My guts are killing me again, need to lay down and his remark was. AGAIN!! I think he was getting tired of it and believe me it's been wearing me down also but I'm happy that the Prilosec seems to be working. I made sure I got up and took that little pill at 5am this morning Only problem I'm having now is a LOT of grumbling going on in there and I can handle that. I'm also not hungry but it might just be system settling down due to all the vomiting and cramping it went through. Donna

Thanks Diana, I know it seems like I have had alot going on here lately over the last fewmonths, but not knowing what was wrong was the hardest part. Now that we know, and got it fixed, I should be back to normal in no time. I really don't even feel like I have had any surgery at all. I am defiitely feeling better. Thanks again, Hugs, Susan

Thanks Donna, I'm glad the problem is fixed as well... I was not cramping or hurting ALL the time. However, everytime I ate or drank anything I would hurt all the way from the bottom of my ribs to the other side, and then down to my belly button. After about 2-3 hours the pain would go away, and then I would be o****il I tried to eat or drink again. Since this surgery, I am now back to eating and drinking fine with no problems. Glad the Prilosec is working for you. Keep taking it if it is working. If there is an ulcer, it will help to heal the ulcer. And also listen to your surgeons advice about the vomiting, and if the cramping starts back, call him back asap.... Hugs, Susan

Thanks Mary, And you are so right... I am sooo looking forward to the summer and the pool in our community opening up this holiday weekend. I have got to get to working on my tan soon, as it is getting so hot now, that I can see my shorts and skorts in the very near future... but I got to get these saggy white thighs of mine tanned... It's funny, I used to say that my big ole fat body looked much better tanned than white.. but now it is the same saying but with the change of the saggy skin looks better tanned... Some things never change I guess. And worked turned out to be fairly easy for me. I was pretty tired after lunch, and I was ready for a quick nap, but instead I just went in to my ofice and stretched out in my chair for about 20 minutes, and then I was good to go for the rest of the afternoon. However, I can sure hear my bed calling my name now. I'm sure it will be an early night for me. Hugs, susan

Topic: Monica?s musing on life and the road.......
Monica's musing on life and the road....... I am very happy. I love my new home and I love my new life. John, Diablo, and I are really getting into this entire experience. The RV is large, yet comfy; spacious, yet intimate; private, yet open; and so very easy to clean. I really am enjoying the changes in my life. Thankfully I had weight loss surgery cause this could not have happened if I didn't lose 130 lbs. I am walking without pain.....most days. I go up and downs stairs all day due to the step in and up living in a RV. My knees still hurt and I am thankful for my medication to deal with the knees, but I am free of pain in my left foot, injured last summer and such a longtime painful, stressful, and lets not walk cause it hurts sooooo much item. I am thankful for the PT I received at the Northampton VA. I am doing a lot of walking every day. I walk Diablo, walk around the campgrounds, do shopping, and I am walking up, in, down, and around many streams and small rivers. Hurrah. The weather has been fabulous and not so good. We had sunny weather with no rain for so long we forgot what a stretch of rainy weather is like. On the rainy days we have been sleeping in, tying flies for fishing, sleeping in, and exploring the beautiful country side of PA. I need to write to the governor of PA to praise the entire road system that we have had the opportunity to travel on each day. FANTASTIC roads people totally. Well maintained, clean, pot hole free, spectacular bridges, signage, directions, and we have not traveled a toll road yet. Such a drastic change from MA. I do miss my kids.....who'd a thunk? I miss the Grandkids a lot too. We have made plans to stay in New Hampshire, 7 miles from Sara's house for 6 weeks and then we will head to the shores of Rhode Island and stay in East Lyme CT for a month or longer. OOOOOOOH the plans are really fun to make. We love the ocean and beach. Last summer we traveled to the RI beaches every weekend. Beign able to spend time near our favorite beaches for most of the is too fantastic. I also miss the people that I worked with and who I shared my days with since 2000. I is a social creature. I enjoy interacting with others. I am finding new people to meet and greet and I do bring smiles to others and myself. Even John is becoming a more social person and we the people at our campground all know us and stop by to chat. Yesterday we traveled to the Lancaster area. We bypassed inside Lancaster to explore the beautiful farms. One way to recognize an Amish farm is from the laundry hanging outside....blues, purples, blacks all lined up on long clothes lines. Also their farms are just so lovely, precise, and neat. The buggy's give them away as do the windmills and no electric lines. We went to Bird in Hand and Intercourse. I explored the various shops and the nooks and crannies of the towns. Incredible quits at many of the shops and roadside stands. We went to Good & Plenty for dinner. We had been there 20+ years ago and remembered the place. It hasn't changed too much, but John and I sure have in regard to what and how much we can eat at a sitting. VERY LITTLE. I had a taste of everything including the shoofly pie, but just a taste. I left there feeling empowered and happy with Monica. I was amazed at the platters of food served and what 9 people at our table were able to consume. I thought back on my pre-WLS days and realized that I would have had 3rds of the main meal and a full serving of each of the 5 deserts. Travel wise, it was a long day on the road, but fun. We are continually impressed with the farms, towns, and villages we pass through and are now living in. Selinsgrove PA is lovely, old, Victorian styling, friendly, honest, easy on the eye, convenient for good shopping, yet rural. There is exceptional trout fishing close by in many directions. PA also does a phenomenal job stocking, preserving, and advertising its fresh water habitats for trout. The state supplies excellent maps and information on its programs. Well I am closing for the night. Hope to tie up some of my newest fly pattern.....a green/clear/white scud fly....very tiny and irresistible to trout. (I hope). Happy days. Monica

Thanks Susan, Your such a sweetheart I'm still feeling better as I write this by now my problem is I don't want to eat, go figure I did write my surgeons assistant and told her what was going on. Very interesting to hear what she had to say about what vomiting will do to your opening. Below is what she wrote. I was not aware you can close the opening from vomiting and here I was throwing up 2 to 3 times a day Not good at all. Donna, Sorry to hear you are having problems. Sounds like some of it may be caused by stress-I would definitely try the prilosec for a week or two and a bland diet-no citrus, tomato based products, spicy foods. If that does not help then you will need to see Dr. Koren. When was the last time you were into see him? I would suggest you still make an appointment to see him. Also, if you vomit, you should always go back to liquids for at least 24 hours-this will give the opening from you stomach to the small intestine a chance to heal-every time you vomit-you run the risk of narrowing that opening. As for gas, gas can be caused by increase in the amout of carbohydrates you are consuming. I know if I eat too many carbohydrates I get really gasy. Watch what you are eating.
