Topic: RE: Constipation Problem!
I used to have the problem before surgery. Not anymore. I sometimes have not gone for a couple days. I try to eat carrots with peanut butter and drink lots of water. I also started excersing regularly. I try to eat at least 1 salad a day. I belive that these things have helped me. I did have a little time when I wasn't feeling too hot and felt all bloated. I tried to use a natural regiman of vitamins that I heard cleanse out your colon. That really helped alot.

Susan, I am very sorry to hear that you are going through so much. Not the best way to loose weight but hey, once you have been where we were before the surgery, we will take the weight loss any way we get it. I am glad to hear that you are feeling well enough to get back to us. please keep in touch and let us know how you are feeling.
I had the surgery done open and then in May had hernia operation and they opened me up all over again. I know how bad it can be to heal. Be VERY carefull! Don't take a chance of hernia. not worth it to pick up that extra pair of socks laying on the floor. You can always pick it up later!
lots of prayers your way!

Topic: Constipation Problem!
I am about a year and a 1/2 post op and I am still battling constipation problems. I get compacted , then I have to use a remedy such as Phillips milk of magnesia, It helps....then it starts all over again! I have tried eating fiber. I had started eating a hand full of shredded wheat, and have been eating watermelon. These help a bit but never clears everything. I always feel bloated. I probably don't get quite enough of the water I should, but I drink other sugerfree fluids. I don't exercise like I should. I DO stick more to high protien foods more than not. Maybe not enough veggies. But even when I conciously correct these things, it doesn't seem like enough to get things regulated! If anyone has some suggestions, please let me know
Topic: RE: Panniculectomy
OMGosh Lori! This is awsome to hear. How many pounds did your panni amount to? I am consistently 5 - 8 pounds from reaching my goal weight and it is so frustrating. I keep hoping the panni will solve that problem.

Jean,
I had the panniculectomy done in December of last year and I love the results so much. I went from a size 12 to a 6 and lovvvvvvvvvvvvvveeeeeeeeee it. I didn't have the abdominoplasty done and not bothered by that at all, I'm just so thankful to have that skin off. If your insurance company will pay for that then go for it, you will be happy. I was kind of in the same boat as you and couldn't afford to do the extra and tightening but I don't regret it all.
Take care,
Loni
Topic: I did it AGAIN....
Well, I am finally able to get back to the computer....
2 Friday's ago, I left work at noon and went to the ER again. My pain in my tummy had returned the weekend before after having mowed my yard, and the dang ditch.... I gave it a week to calm down and the pain to go away, but it never did. I think I honestly knew the Saturday before after mowing the ditch that I had done something to myself, but I think denial is a woderful place to live... for awhile anyway....
I called my WLS surgeon and he said to go to the ER and get them to do a CT Scan and have them call him with the results. So I did as instructed. A little while after coming back from CT Scan, the ER doc came in and told me that I had yet another small bowel obstruction, and another hernia, and that my WLS didn't want me to make the trip all the way to Atlanta for emergency surgery, that it needed to be done quicker than I could get there. So, friday evening about 9pm, it was back to the operating room for me. The surgeon who saw me while I was in the hospital in April is the one I requested. He came in and told me that he had spoken with my WLS surgeon, and they would have to open my belly this time. He wanted to make sure they thoroughly checked out everything in there, and fixed it all at once this time. So now I have 18 staples in my belly.... but they are due to come out tomorrow morning. Yippeeee....
On Saturday, while I was in the hospital, I had a grand mal seizure.... not too sure why that happened, and no one can tell me why, as I have never had one before. (My son has a seizure disorder, but I never have). Anyway, after the seizure I became very non-responsive, and turned white as a ghost, so they called a code on me. I really don't remember anything about it.... I'm just going on what my mother has told me about it. Later that afternoon, my mom came back for a visit and was very ticked off that they had not moved my room up closer to the nurses station. I asked why did they need to move me and that is when she informed me that I had had a seizure, and that since my room was so far down the hall, she either wanted me put on a monitor, or moved up closer to the nurses station where the nurses could keep a better eye on me. So they finally moved me up in to a room right by the nurses station.
I was finally discharged to come home on Tuesday evening, so I have been home almost a week now. I have spent alot of time in the bed, and very little time on the computer. It hurts to sit up straight for very long with all these staples. The good thing is that this surgery, and being on clear liquids for 4 days kicked in my weight loss again. I finally made it below 170 for the first time in about 30 years.... 169 looked really good on the scale yesterday. Hopefully with me getting to feel better, and getting back to some type of excercise, I can keep on losing and get to my goal of 155-165....
Sorry this is so long.... y'all know I can't do anything that can be typed in one short paragraph.... hehehehe
Hope everyone is doing well!!!!
Hugs,
Susan
Topic: RE: How is the weather...
Today is Monday, June 26th. Toronto is hazy, overcast and 73 degrees. We are expecting late-in-the-day thunderstorms. Then rain until Thursday. The weather has been seasonal. 70-75 most days, sunny, cooling down to low 60's at night.
Have a great week.

Hi there ! Glad to hear that homelife agrees with you. Hope you enjoy the summer and your new garden. I have to find a new job too. I can't afford time off, as I am the main bread winner. Although, truthfully, I really really could use a break. LOL
I'm dealing with work stress, home stress and weight loss stress. Still stalled on the weight loss and unable to vent my frustrations regarding home and work issues. Lost all my bad habits and now I'm missing them. LOL I'm looking forward to 3 weeks vacation at the end of July. (July 31st is my first day off)
Wishing you all the best !

Sorry to hear about your hubby and I hope he mends quickly. That (bee pollen allergies) is one of my worries at this time of year. I seldom remember to carry an Epipen. Always figuring I could make it to a hospital, or that my Bendryl pills might be enough, but geeze...you never realize until it happens...just how serious and scary it can be. I sure hope hubby stays safe.
Many blessings,
Karen G
