Giggling, I love your handle "Mrs. Sparky Underwear" how did you come up with such a cut handle? I'm glad I'm not alone. I really feel like I'm losing my mind. My husband is so at my side but I'm wondering how he puts up with me at times. Like last night I was ALL OVER him in bed and he was so tired. He told me. GO TO SLEEP and I broke down crying running from the bedroom. It's nuts!! Donna

Jean, Thanks for your opinion and information. Trust me I took all the pills there are OTC and prescribed. Unfortunately they only worked temporarily and that is what I'm looking for right now. I know that if I get closer to my goal I'm going to do my best to maintain. I had RNY and my surgeon made my pouch bigger than others because he was affraid I was going to get too small. I'm 5' 10" and I was only 242 lbs when I went to see him for the first consultation visit. My BMI was 32.4. By the day of the surgery I was 233 lbs. So he figured that if he did my pouch as small as others I was going to end up being too skinny. Because of his decision and my poor eating habits now I'm anable to loose anymore and I even gained. Yes, I'm not going to lie. I have done horrible with my eating and no I haven't work out in a while. I'm not going to make excuses but I just can't get back on track. I have tried eating better and work out and I can't seem to loose any weight for the past year. That has discouraged me so much and I feel horrible for having this surgery and being one of the many failures. I got so tired of judgemental people here on the main messageboard. Everytime I came to post about my problem and wanted to hear positive things all they did was made me feel worse about myself. That's the reason why I stopped coming to the OH alltogether. I really want to find something that can help me even if is just a jump start. Once I see the scale move it will be different I know it. My last resource is diet pills. I have never stopped taking my multivitamins and calcium. I eat a good amount of protein. I love chicken. I drink at least 64 oz of water. Yes I do eat carbs and I don't work out (working on that) I still don't loose any weight. This is being like this for a year. I understand that there's other people that have a lot more will power and that can handle this a lot better than me. Thanks a lot for your help. Norma Cantu

Donna I have suffered with Thyroid disease for many many years and believe me you do feel nuts until someone tells you that its your thyroid.. Untreated thyroid disease will make you totally loopy!!! I was in college when they discovered mine and that semester my wonderful 4.0 average plummeted to a 2.5 It took over 3 months to get my number right and once they did WOW what a difference. It gets better!!! Debby

I agree with you Jean that it's better to try something different then diet pills. Like I said I took them for a month but from passed exprience they only work for so long and then they stop working. I was being totally honest and up front with her. I hate when people won't answer my questions She asked and I told her what I did but like I said my husband got very upset with me as he don't feel they are healthy. It's so dark and raining out here in my neck of the woods today. Donna

I'm not going to lie to anyone. I'm a pretty straight forward and honest person. We have all been there with our weight and some of us still deal with issues. We are here for each other I took Phentramine. Look up Diet pills on the internet and you'll find lots of sites. I only did one month and stopped as my husband got upset with me. Be careful as they'll make you speed like crazy and that's probably from us having WLS. You also have to watch what you eat even taking diet pills. It's called dieting My surgeon said my goal is 130lbs and I'm around 155/157lbs and everyone tells me DON'T LOSE ANYMORE as you look wonderful. I think it's up to each person where they want to stop. My problem is not eating enough. Once a day and throwing it all up or half of it up don't help issues. Ever want to talk email me, OK? Hugs Donna

Hi Chelle, That's cool that you work at Sears also. They don't pay a lot but they are like family. I have never worked for a place where everyone is so freindly. My problem is either thyroid, not eating enough and someone pointed out might be gonig through the change of life. I know my thyroid is off as my surgeon checked it but he don't seem concerned about it. I go see my PCP on Monday. I still have my gallbladder and my surgeon said it's not that!! I have been keeping a daily log of what I eat and some days I only eat once a day and even throw that up at times. I need to take calcuim (sp) pills and they are making me throw up, sigh. Donna

Norma, did you have an RNY? with a transected (meaning cut completely away) stomach? If so, it is physically impossible for you to be hungry. Are you sure you are not experiencing "head hunger"? I would like to suggest for your consideration that you might look into going back to the basics of the surgery. Use the rules as your WEPN and get that tool working for you again. Now, of course, if your stomach is not transected, then it is possible you are having a staple line break through and are really hungry. But if you have a transected pouch, then you might want to give the rules another try. Here they are: Water -- min. of 64 oz. per day Exercise -- 20 min per day (come on, be honest, are you exercising?) Protein FIRST -- min. of 60 grams per day (either in food or supplements) No snacking -- again, be honest, are you snacking? if they are white carbs, your body is getting the signal to produce insulin and you are getting cravings because of the carbs. Try sticking to only protein and veggies for a few days and see how you feel. You left the "diet mentality" at the operating room door, didn't you? If not, do it now. You don't need diet pills. I am NOT being judgemental, honestly. I'm just trying to encourage you to look at this a different way. The people who are gaining weight, if they are honest, are not following the rules of WEPN. That is not a judgement call, it is just a statement of fact (as I have observed). hang in there, you can do it! jean

Topic: RE: When to weigh???
Charlotte, I don't think there is any one "correct" time to do it. I think the key is to do it on a regular basis and with all the same conditions each time. So, if you want to weigh yourself every day at 5 pm buck naked, then always weigh yourself at that same tiome, no clothes. I have a personal theory that weighing oneself on a daily basis is a dangerous thing. To me, it is "fat lady" thinking. Worrying about gaining a pound is counter productive in my opinion. And I am all about NEVER being in denial about my weight ever again, so I weigh myself once a week, always first thing in the morning, after going to the bathroom and with no clothes. Once a week is enough time to get a couple pounds gained under control. I left obsessing about my weight behind me on the day I had my RNY. jean
