Topic: RE: Change of life
I'm hoping it's just my hormones. I had a hysterectomy over 10 years ago but they left one ovary in so I was still getting my horomones.
I'm just wondering why my calcuim, Thryoid, PTH and Vit. D are all off and even my liver. Makes me worry.
It's funny I do much better on the weekends when Ron is home as he keeps me moving as we go out walking to the malls and flea markets but I'm so tired when I get home
I got keep my up.

Topic: RE: Change of life
My surgeon found low calcium and something wrong with my thyroid, not sure if high or low plus high liver eczemas. I was never told about the liver, my PCP told me or she said. higher then normal liver eczemas?!?!!.
My PCP sent a letter stating I have elevated PTH and Vit. D. So I must go see an endocrinologist.
When I looked up PTH on the internet it comes up with Parathyroid Hormone. I'm hoping it's only caused from my calcium being off or that her tests or WRONG!!

Topic: RE: Change of life
Hi Donna,
So sorry you are having to go thru this. Some of us go thru it sooner than others. I started it back in 2000, however mine was surgically induced when I had a total hysterectomy. I was put on hormones while still in the hospital, but it took us nearly a year to get my meds right, but once they did, everything was much better. Now at nearly 21 months out from the WLS, I am no longer taking them... finally. I hoped that I would be able to come off of them at sometime with all the talk a few years ago about hormone replacement therapy, but I figured I would have to be one of the ones who had to take them the rest of my life. But now that I am off of them, and have been for 2 months now, I feel pretty good. And the Dr's were already in process of taking me off of my thyroid meds, so I quit taking those as well. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that all will continue to go well in that dept.
Get you some hormones, take them religously, and in no time you will feel better, and realize your not crazy after all. Sounds like as early as your mother went thru the change that you were also destined too.... There are are good things about the change.... Just think of all the money you will save on monthly supplies, birth control, and eventually no more pms.... it really isn't all bad....
I'll keep you in my thoughts and prayers as things level out for you now that you know whats wrong.
Hugs,
Susan
Topic: RE: Medications
Does anyone know what Ibuprofin with do to your pouch? Cause I've had surgery on both of my hands in the last month and the doctor prescribed me a medication that has vicodin & Ibuprofin in it....I've been taking it and I haven't noticed any changes or any problems since taking it.
So please let me know.
Thanks!!

Topic: RE: When to weigh???
I agree with Jean. While I was losing my weight (when I was still heavy) I did weigh myself once a wk but now that I've lost 187 lbs I could care less how much I weigh (but thats just me). Now I might weigh once a month. The only reason why I know how much I weigh now is I had hand surgery 2 wks ago and they weighed me before surgery.
So don't stress yourself with weighing everyday cause it sounds like your stressin yourself out over 3 or 4 lbs. Just keep in mind about all the other pounds you have lost and about how great you look that those pounds are gone.....at least thats what I do.
Take care of yourself and keep up the good with what you are doing,
Yvonne
Topic: RE: Constipation Problem!
I also have probs with Constipation as well. I found a sugar free cookie at Walmart...its Oatmeal & Raisin cookie that is fabulous and it helped me move very well the next morning. My Mom eats a small bowl of oatmeal every day and she has never had a prob with constipation. Just another suggestion for anyone out there.
Take care,
Yvonne
Topic: RE: Is this you?
I've heard from other people and also my surgeon that its normal after about 2-3 yrs out that you gain a little weight back.
As for the jeans I haven't had that problem yet (I don't wear jeans much these days due to the heat here in TX). I wear alot of blue jean skirts and blue jean dresses (alot cooler in this horrible heat). I have notice that it depends on the maker of the clothes is the size I wear. Like the other day I bought 2 blue jean skirts and they are a size 5/6..I've tried on other skirts and ended up having to get a size 8 or 10. So it depends on the designer and the material. So please don't make a big issue of sizes. Everyone's body is different...cause I'm at 157 and there is NO way I could ever fit in a size 2...my butt and thighs are to big. If there was ANYWAY possible I would LOVE to have a tummy tuck, thigh and butt lift but my insurance doesn't cover it and I don't have the money to pay for it out of pocket....Oh well..maybe once I hit the lottery...LOL!!
Take care of yourself and God bless,
Yvonne
