Topic: RE: I'm being streamlined...again
Karen, Well first of all, I am sorry to hear your employer is doing that to you... My mom is also going thru the same thing right now... She's been with her employer for 16 years and they are "downsizing" and she's out the door at the end of this month... She's worried about finding another job too... Things are sure tough all over.... Honestly Karen, you shouldn't have a problem finding another job with your experiences... But expect that the employers will not be willing to pay you as much as you may be making currently... That will be the biggest issue you will likely face in the job search... I know this from experience... I am definitely not getting paid what I am worth with education & work experience... Of course, the area in which I live is pretty economically depressed so that has something to do with it too I am sure... Here are some suggestions for you to prepare: 1. Start looking now at what there is in your area of Canada in the way of jobs in your field and start applying. You can try to look up salary info on salary.com so you know what you're worth in the area and who is paying fairly and who's not... 2. Be sure to update your resume (include your skills & certifications on there) 3. Always, always, always send a cover letter in with your resume. It works! But don't use a general one. Personalize it to the company you are applying to. 4. Do your research on the company you are applying to and know as much as you can (i.e. the CEO, the HR head honcho, etc.). The more you know the better off you will be when it comes to personalizing both your resume & cover letter to the employer. I learned a lot of these techniques in a class I took in my last semester of college and it has helped me out a great deal... Every time I sent in a cover letter, I got an interview usually... The jobs where I only sent in the resume I usually didn't hear back... So it has seemed to make a difference for me... Well, I hope that helped you somewhat... I'm pullin' for ya and have no doubt you'll find something else... Keep your chin up hon.... Chelle

Topic: RE: NEED REVISION......NEED ADVICE
Hello Donna, I have not been denied yet, but I certainly hope that I'm worried about nothing. Ever since I had the initial surgery I had problems with my pouch. It would hurt all the time so I had to have an endoscopy to see what was wrong. Well, in a matter of 6 months I had three of them and I think that with each endoscopy it stretch the opening to my pouch and now the pouch is bigger. The doctor feels that I need to have the revision surgery so that I can lose the rest of my weight. Hopefully, everything will go through and I will get the approval for the revision so that I can lose the rest of my weight. If it doesn't then I don't know what I'm going to do. I will keep you updated and thanks! Y.

Topic: I'm being streamlined...again
I've been streamlined about 4 times in my career and each time, I was able to find another job, still staying with my same employer. I've been with the same employer for over 21 years. They reorganized again and I had to interview for my job on "Friday the 13th". Needless to say, the interview did not go as I expected and the newly structured management did not select me to go further in the competition. I have received my notice for November 30th, 2006. I am really hurt about this, but can't share it with my family, as I am afraid to get everyone else worried. I need to find a new career. My background is in Finance, Administration and Information Technology. I am a 5th level Certified General Accountant and I have completed all of the courses of the Certified Netware Engineer program under Netware 4.11 Administration. I also have training and experience in project management. Any advice, from experienced job searches, would be greatly appreciated. I've been "out of the market" for over two decades and surely could use some good advice right now. Help me discover "what I want to be when I grow up". LOL Thanks Karen G

I'm sorry you did not lose as much as you wanted You have not been denied yet have you? You might be worried about nothing. May I ask what your surgeon is going to do or what happened that they must do a revision? Donna

Hi judy, thanks for getting back to me. I lost 70 pounds and thats it I'm so disappointed and truly discouraged. I was 370 pounds before my surgery and for some reason for the last six months I keep gaining and losing the same 3 pounds. Congratulations on your weight loss. If I don't get approved by ghi/bcbs I really don't know what I'm going to do. I still need to get off another 70-80 pounds to get to my goal weight. I'm 6'0 and I think that I can carry 220-230 comfortably. Yes, I have to do everything I did in the beginning. I had to do the psych eval again and the 6 months of weigh ins. Well, I'll keep you posted and again congratuations on your loss! Yvette

Boy!! It's been forever since I've been on this board..... How much weight did you loose the first time. I really thought that I would just melt off the weight I wanted. Boy was I wrong! I weighed 271 and after the surgery I lost 100 pounds really quickly, which I am SOOOO happy with... Then it really slowed down and I lost another 50....which is good..... But lately I've gained like 12 pounds and I'm panicking, I NEVER want to get back to where I was... So this week I'm really back on track. who knows for how long, cause I can eat whatever I want except a lot of dairy. Sorry so much about me...... I 'm sure they will approve you for your revision.... With that do they have to do everything they did in the beginning? Hope everything works out for you.... ((((hugs)))) Judy

Hello, I didn't lose nearly enough weight from my initial surgery and now I need to have revision surgery to lose the rest of my weight. Is there anyone out there who was denied approval by ghi/bcbs for their revision surgery? If so, what did you do to get approved? I have submitted everything required for ghi, but I'm still afraid that I will be denied approval for the revision surgery and if I am I don't know what to do. Any suggestions? Please let me know. Thanks! Yvette
