Too much rain. Wow! I'm glad to hear you're back safe and sound. I am glad they had someone who cares about them on Christmas. You are a kind person.
Enjoy the rest of the holiday.
Hugs,
Cheri

Hi Cheri
Just got back from NY and it was raining cats and dogs and foggy out but we got home safe and sound. It's almost a two hour drive.
I love my residents as they are my second family

Wanted to wish my family a great big Merry Christmas.
I was up at the crack of dawn, 6am and took cookies to my residents at the assistant living where I worked and said Merry Christmas to as many residents that where up and awake and now I'm heading off to NY to spend christmas with my 80 year old Mother in-law.
Everyone be save, travel safe and remember. DON'T EAT TO MUCH

You have only vomited 3 times?????????????? Vomit was my middle name for months! Sounds like you are doing fantastic. I wish I had done this surgery yrs ago when I could have enjoyed more activities. I guess I really am more active than I think--I am 55 and raising a 2 yr old doll baby granddaughter.
Topic: RE: Hello...5 days out and Doing Well!
I am surprised you are trying real food-- too early. My surgeon did not allow any thing chewed until 6 weeks out. I ate jello, broth, soup made from baby food and chicken broth, protein shakes, for those 6 long weeks. I did not start any dumping until into my 8th week as I added soft food. My surgeon is overly cautious- but NEVER has he had a leak, infection or a death in all the hundreds of cases he has done. I have had a relatively smooth course in the past year.......exception of when I tried the WRONG things! Or ate too fast, or too much. I find I can not eat a variety at one time. Like one bite of several different things--nope-does not go down. Keep us posted.......We are proud of you!!!!!!!!!!

Topic: RE: One More Question...Protein Shakes?
You are officially on the other side!! Merry Christmas! I had my surgery 12/16/04- I am 100 lbs lighter. So just remember that next Christmas- you too, will be about 100 lbs lighter. The world will be your oyster! It feels so good to wear normal clothes! I am smaller than my 23 yr old daughter!
The coming few months are TOUGH- alot of throwing up and intolerance to new foods as you try them. IT WILL BE WORTH IT! I wondered if I had made the right decision early on when nothing stayed down.
I had to go thru 5-6 brands of protein shakes to find one I could tolerate. I found "Designer Whey" at Vitamin World in vanilla was the one. It is not very sweet.
Keep us posted and get your rest...........................Carolyn

Thanks for the note-and the advice. I too, am guilty of shoveling it down when I am hungry...not chewing. I will make an effort to do that...I gravitate toward the easy things to eat. Alot of which is not good food.....I am still losing and nearly at goal- so I have been getting loose with the carbs and sweets...............Have a Merry Christmas! Carolyn
