Topic: RE: ? may lbs did u lose in Feb?
I lost 9 lbs in February!
I'm getting very close to my goal weight and am still averaging about 8 lbs / month.
On the one had I'm thrilled, of course, but it's also starting to freak me out a bit, to think that maybe I'll be one of those people who loses too much or has to fight to keep weight on. (How weird would that be?!)
On the other hand, based on what I'm eating (generally 900 - 1000 cal/day) I could certainly add some calories (even a whole meal probably) without any problems, so I'm not too worried about that. Just wierd to think about.
At 14.5 months post op, I've lost 188 lbs, and am now 3 lbs from the "normal" BMI range and 14 lbs from my "ideal weight" (according to the "post-op planner").
Or maybe not quite - I've been sick this week (just a cold, but felt lousy) and showed a 3 lb (!!) loss from Weds to Thurs. I suspect that might have more to do with being a bit dehydrated from fever than anything else. But I'm hoping it's for real!

Topic: Funny joke!
I found this on another board so some of you may have seen it, but I thought it was really funny. Hopefully you guys will too.
How many message board members does it take to change a lightbulb?
One to change the light bulb and two to post that the light bulb has been changed.
Fourteen to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and how the light bulb could have been changed differently.
Seven to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs.
Seven more to point out spelling/grammar errors in posts about changing light bulbs.
Five to flame the spell checkers.
Three to correct spelling/grammar flames.
Six to argue over whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb" ...
Another six to condemn those six as stupid.
Fifteen to claim experience in the lighting industry and give the correct spelling.
Nineteen to post that this group is not about lightbulbs and to please take this discussion to a lightbulb (or light bulb) forum.
Eleven to defend the posting to the group saying that we all use light bulbs and therefore the posts are relevant to this group.
Thirty to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what
brands are faulty.
Seven to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs.
Four to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URL.
Three to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to this group which makes light bulbs relevant to this group.
Thirteen to link all posts to date, quote them in their entirety including all headers and signatures, and add "Me too"
Five to post to the group that they will no longer post because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy and the amount of e-mail it generates..
Four to say "didn't we go through this already a short time ago?"
Thirteen to say "do a Google search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs."
Three to tell a funny story about their cat and a light bulb.
AND...
One group lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now with something unrelated they found at snopes.com and start it all over again!

Topic: RE: Do you still identify with obese people?
He says that men are FIRST attracted to the outside and THEN attracted to other qualities. I'm not sure that is the best way for happiness. Sounds like your man is GREAT!!!!!
Have a good weekend.

Topic: RE: Do you still identify with obese people?
Well, I'm size 12-14 at about 190 pounds. Making me still obese. I don't remember ever NOT feeling obese. Even as a teenager, when 140 pounds made me feel fat !!! I don't expect to ever feel like a "skinny" person inside my head. I will be always fearful of obtaining bad habits which could sabotage my success. This fear will keep me identifying with obese people forever.
Your "friend" who only dates small women, may end up lonely and unhappy. He should be concentrating on selecting a women from the inside-out. Selecting a partner from the qualities that will remain with them for life, will ensure a relationship that will remain for life. If you select your partner by looks, what happens when you grow old and lose those looks? Does that mean he will fall out of love?
I love my man for his kind heart, his gentle soul, his charming personality, his sense of humour and, lastly, because he is cute to me !

Topic: RE: Do you still identify with obese people?
Cheri,
I absolutely still identify with larger people. One reason I do is that I don't see myself as thinner - my head hasn't quite caught up with my body. Another reason is that I was overweight/obese as long as I can remember. I remember starting on diet pills when I was 9 years old and thinking I would never again be able to have a candy bar. I don't think that I can stop relating to being an overweight/obese peroson when that is who I was most of my life.
For me, I always want to identify with larger people. I want to remember what it is like and the difficulties that are faced on so many levels. I know the struggle that the obese person faces everyday just getting through the day. How can I lose sympathy for that person? I think it is so important to remember where I came from, in the hopes that it helps me keep vigilant and never allow myself to go back there.
I also would take it personally it somebody critical of overweight people. There are lots of reasons people become overweight, including medical ones that are out of their control.
Take care,
Mary
