I Just Bought a Bike !!!
I've been thinking of ways to increase my exercise, by making my lifestyle less sedentary. Last year, I gave up my van and began walking. This year, my goal was to start cycling.... so, yesterday... I bought a bike !!
I bought a second-hand ladies mountain bike at the local cycle shop, for only $60. I rode for over an hour and my legs were like jello. Slowly, I hope to rebuild the endurance and make cycling a part of my daily routine.
Now, can someone please bring me warmer weather?

The last time I owned a bike was 1982-1984. I had a baby-carrier on the back for my son. I ended up giving the bike to a baby-sitter in April 1985, as compensation for a long sitting job. The mother wouldn't let me pay the sitter cash, so I negotiated a trade. The child had no bike and they couldn't afford one, so they were happy with the trade. By that time, I was already 50 pounds too heavy to keep riding anyway. Now, I am so hyped and looking forward to the freedom of the road.
Of course, the temperature dipped to -2 celcius last night and today's high is only 5... too cold for cycling. It's also raining and wet snow flurries....so I really need some sunshine and warm weather. ((SIGH))

Wow Karen... You go girl....
I have both a recumbant air bike, and a regular bike... but what I need is one of those car carriers... my road is sooo busy that it really isn't safe to get out and ride on it. If I had a bike carrier on my car, I could take both mine and my sons bikes to the local college, and we could ride there. Maybe soon, that'll be my next small investment.
I'd love to send you some of our warm weather... I'm not ready to be over winter yet.... however, I don't think I want it as cold as you have it. I'm in the phase of heat at night, and AC during the day.... It really shouldn't be a wonder why I have this stuffy nose....
Hugs,
Susan
