Recent GallBladder Surgery
Anybody else from this December group have to have their gall bladder out yet??? Sorry, I can't remember... (Yes, not only have I lost weight and my hair, I have also lost my mind) I know alot of folks from my GA group have recently had it.
My reason for asking is that 12 days ago, I had to have mine out. And I gained about 11 lbs with the surgery. At first I blamed the gain on IV fluids, and figured it would come off in a few days like after my kidney stone lazertripsy last year. It didn't come off in just a few days. Well, 5 lbs have come off, but I am still about 6 lbs heavier than before surgery. And while I know that 6 lbs is not alot, it is very frustrating to me that I am having trouble getting back down to where I was.
Atleast I am feeling better now and don't have that nagging pain between my sternum and belly button everytime I eat. However, this has been a new learning experience for me when it comes to eating. I'm not sure whether my pouch has shrunk a little or what.... but it doesn't take much to fill me up now, and I find that if I do over eat, even just a little, I have awful stomach pains. And now all of the sudden, since having the gall bladder out, bread has all the sudden become a problem for me. I try to tell myself that this is a good thing.
Oh well, enough whining for today.... I will finally go back to work on Monday, and maybe then things will get back to normal. Whatever that is...
Hugs,
Susan
Hi Susan,
I had mine taken out i***** I had gall stones.
I thought I had an ulcer due to getting ready
for my wedding. Nope it was my gall bladder.
I was throwing up on my wedding night and
in severe pain.
I hope your feeling better. I haven't seen you
post in a while. You'll lose those 6 pounds in
no time.
Take care,
Diana

I had mine taken out many years ago, and I'm glad because it seems that more and more of us are now having gall bladder surgery. I feel bad for you because it's really a painful surgery. I hope you had help after you came home. I think it's kinda the same pain as a c-section, but you don't get to come home with a baby! Stay Well, Judy
Thanks everybody for your well wishes....
And Judy, the pain with this surgery was nothing... well, comparitively speaking anyway. I'd rather have this surgery anyday than have to bring home another baby.... LOL... Can you tell I still have little ones...
I was surprised this past Monday when I took off the little Dermabond sticky things.. My surgeon used 2 of my old incisions from my gastric bypass surgery, and one new one and did this gall bladder surgery laprascopically. The 2 smaller incisions, while they looked to be an inch long under the dermabond, turned out to be less than one half inch long, and I can barely see them at all. The one on my belly button was a little bothersome, but even it is only about an inch long. All of them have healed without any problems at all. I know I am a wimp when it comes to pain, and believe God gave man the ability to create pain meds because he knew I was coming into this world a wimp.
I go back to work on Monday, and I am ready. The first week worried me a little because I tired out so easily, but I think I am ready to get back to the normal swing of things now.
Hugs,
Susan
